    Critical Care Nurses

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform thorough assessments of patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Monitor vital signs, oxygen levels, and other critical indicators
    • Provide direct, continuous care to critically ill or injured patients, monitoring their condition, and responding to changes in their status.
    • Perform comprehensive assessment of patients to identify their specific and critical care needs and adopt a care plan as necessary to meet those needs.
    • Administer prescribed medications, intravenous fluids, and other treatments, including blood transfusions and ventilator support.
    • Prioritize nursing care for critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs.
    • Set up the medical equipment and devices such as cardiac monitors, dialysis, mechanical ventilators, alarms, oxygen delivery equipment etc. and monitor patients and interpret findings.
    • Initiate mechanical ventilation (invasive and non-invasive) based on physician orders.
    • Ensure a safe environment for patients through adherence to infection control practices and other safety policies, and perform timely safety checks on beds, IV pumps, oxygen sources, ventilators and cardiac monitors.
    • Ensure documentation of all assessment data, investigation results, care given, discussions with the multidisciplinary team, family/patient interactions in an accurate, comprehensive and timely manner.
    • Participate in unit-based nursing education, quality improvement (QI) projects, audits, spot, and skill checks.
    • Participate in data collection and monitoring of department’s quality indicators.
    • Carry out audits on IPSG, Infection prevention measures and documentation and actions on identified gaps.
    • Uphold statutory regulations as required by Nursing Council of Kenya and the laws of Kenya.
    • Safeguard the Hospital’s and patients’ confidential information and property.
    • May supervise and mentor junior nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in KRN, KRM, KRCHN, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized institution.
    • Higher Diploma in Critical Care Nursing.
    • Valid Nursing practice license
    • 3 years of relevant work experience, 1 of which must be after post-basic qualification.
    • Must be BLS & ACLS certified.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer care skills.

    Nursing Officers - Locums

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    NICU Nurses

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

    • Reporting to the Manager – Paediatrics Services, the successful candidate will provide specialized nursing care to newborns requiring intensive monitoring, including premature infants, low birth weight babies, and those with congenital or medical complications.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide holistic, evidence-based nursing care to neonates in the NICU.
    • Monitor vital signs, administer medications, initiate and manage feeds (including NG/OG/IV feeds), and maintain accurate records.
    • Assist in neonatal resuscitation and participate in emergency interventions.
    • Provide Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) support and empower mothers on newborn care.
    • Maintain infection prevention and control practices according to hospital policy.
    • Collaborate with paediatricians, neonatologists, midwives, and multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
    • Support family-centred care, counselling mothers/guardians on breastfeeding, routine care, and discharge planning.
    • Participate in continuous professional development, quality improvement initiatives, and audits.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Diploma in KRCHN/KRN or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognized institution.
    • Higher Diploma in Neonatal Nursing/NICU
    • Valid Nursing practice license
    • At least two (2) years’ experience working as a NICU nurse.
    • Must be BLS certified.

    Ophthalmic Care Nurse - Locum

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide specialized nursing care to patients with eye conditions in clinic and procedural areas
    • Assist ophthalmologists during diagnostic and minor surgical procedures (e.g., slit lamp exams, visual field tests, intravitreal injections)
    • Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures, including pre- and post-operative care

    • Valid Nursing practice license
    • At least 3 years acute care hospital working experience.
    • Minimum 1-year clinical experience eye care clinic.
    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, administrative & customer care skills.
