    Social Norms

    The consultant will be expected to propose appropriate process facilitation and documentation approaches that effectively address the assignment's objectives.

    Scope of Work

    • Conduct a desk review of social norms influencing child marriage and IPV.
    • Engage with community leaders and stakeholders to identify key themes.
    • Develop modules that include storytelling, role-plays, and participatory activities.
    • Pilot the curriculum and refine based on community input. (To be discussed later)

    Timeline

    • The exercise will be conducted within 11 working days. Broken down as follows
    • 1 day inception meeting
    • 5 Days Working on first draft
    • 1 day for feedback meeting
    • 4 Days finalization and clean up
    • The final Document should be submitted to ICS-SP on 17th March 2025**.** The consultant is expected to draw up a work plan in line with the work's scope. This includes planning meetings with the project team as and when necessary.

    Selection criteria for consultants

    • Advanced degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, or related fields.
    • Expertise in participatory approaches and community engagement.
    • Strong understanding of VAC, IPV, and cultural dynamics in Kenya and Tanzania.
    • Expertise in social norms change programming social norms theory, community education, and behavior change communication.
    • Strong analytical and participatory research skills.

    Other requirements

    • Fluency in English (required); proficiency in Kiswahili or local languages (desirable).
    • Ability to deliver high-quality work within tight timelines.
    • Interpersonal skills

    Deliverables

    • Social Norms Curriculum with modules and facilitator guides.
    • Report on the pilot phase.
    • Recommendations for scaling up the curriculum.

    Teacher Training Curriculum Development

    Objectives of the assignment

    • Develop a teacher training curriculum to enhance skills in positive discipline, violence prevention, and inclusive education practices.
    • Include modules on gender-responsive pedagogy and inclusive practices.
    • Align the curriculum with national and international standards for teacher training.

    Methodology

    The consultant will be expected to propose appropriate process facilitation and documentation approaches that effectively address the assignment's objectives.

    Scope of Work

    • Review existing teacher training materials Analyze existing teacher training programs and identify gaps.
    • Work with the implementing team at ICS SP to co create
    • Provide practical tools for teachers to create safe learning environments.
    • Align the curriculum with national education standards and policies.
    • Develop interactive training modules including presentations and activity guides focusing on evidence-based practices.
    • Pilot the curriculum with a sample group of teachers and revise based on feedback.
    • Develop an implementation manual for education stakeholders.
    • Conduct a training session for feedback and incorporate suggested revisions
    • Work on the design and layout of the curriculum to make it user friendly

    Life Skills Curriculum Development

    Objectives of the assignment

    • Develop a curriculum framework based on needs assessments and existing literature.
    • Incorporate elements addressing core life skills, mental health, child participation and environment.
    • Ensure alignment with national education standards and ICS-SP’s goals.

    Methodology

    The consultant will be expected to propose appropriate process facilitation and documentation approaches that effectively address the assignment's objectives.

    Scope of Work

    • Review existing Life skills materials and identify gaps.
    • Conduct a needs assessment with stakeholders, including adolescents, educators, and caregivers.
    • Engage stakeholders (adolescents, educators, parents) through focus groups.
    • Develop facilitator guides, facilitator manuals, and participant workbooks.
    • Conduct a pilot session and refine the curriculum based on feedback
    • Work with the project team implementing the intervention to provide insights
    • Design curriculum modules covering topics such as mental health, peer pressure, reproductive health, and financial literacy.
    • Validate the draft curriculum with stakeholders and revise based on feedback.
    • Work on design and layout and submit final draft

    • Master's degree in education, Psychology, or related fields.
    • Expertise in adolescent development, Life skills education, and curriculum design.
    • Proven experience in curriculum development for youth.
    • Expertise in participatory approaches and adolescent psychology.
    • Strong understanding of VAC prevention and gender-sensitive programming
    • Proven experience working with youth-focused programs and national education systems.
    • Understanding of contemporary issues in Education including Psychological first Aid and child participation concepts.
    • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Exceptional curriculum development and instructional design skills, including the ability to produce user-friendly facilitator guides and training materials.
    • Strong research and analytical skills to synthesize evidence and adapt best practices into contextually relevant content.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills to ensure alignment with project goals and needs.
    • Cultural and contextual understanding
    • In-depth understanding of challenges faced by adolescents in rural and peri-urban areas of Kenya and Tanzania.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-cultural contexts and adapt content to diverse audiences.
    • Evidence of having successfully developed similar curricula or tools, with samples or references provided upon request.
