    Laboratory Technologist

    Position Summary

    Ensure smooth running of laboratory services within the hospital. Analyse samples and release accurate results within reasonable time to guide the Doctors on proper diagnosis and treatment

    Main Duties

    •  Receiving patient samples for laboratory analysis
    •  Performing all lab test procedures as per the SOPs
    •  Report accurate results within acceptable TAT
    •  Communicate all critical results as per hospital SOPs and maintain appropriate documentation
    •  Assist in writing and review of SOPs
    •  Perform both internal quality controls and external quality assurance
    •  Perform daily equipment maintenance and track planned preventive maintenance
    •  Report faulty equipment to the Laboratory Manager
    •  Monitor reagents and supplies to ensure the department has enough supplies while ensuring maximum utilization and efficiency
    •  Participate in department and hospital CMEs
    •  Assist in training of new staff and students on internship
    •  Liaise with Laboratory Manager on new laboratory procedures to ensure that the laboratory is abreast with fast developing technology
    •  Market services offered in the department
    •  Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Laboratory Manager or designee from time to time

    Required Qualifications for the Position

    •  Holder of HND or BSC in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution
    •  Must have current KMLTTB license
    •  Minimum 3 years of experience in a busy hospital laboratory
    •  Excellent oral and written communication skills
    •  Keen on detail with high degree of accuracy
    •  Computer literate

    MCCC Clinical Officer

    Main Duties

    •  Performing routine HIV related medical and surgical procedures
    •  Interpreting medical tests and prescription of treatment
    •  Medical assessment and referral where necessary
    •  Supervising and counseling of staff engaged in routine patient’s care
    •  Giving support and health education to patients
    •  Managing TB patients
    •  Attending to PMTCT clients
    •  Offering preventive services such as PEP and PREP
    •  Giving CMEs to the team.

    Required Qualifications for the Position

    •  Diploma in Clinical Medicine
    •  Registered by Clinical Council
    •  2 Years’ experience
    •  HIV training is an added advantage

    Registrar Child Health And Paediatrics

    Main Duties

    •  Provision of a consultative service for paediatric patients under other units or departments
    •  Ensure supervision for junior medical officers and to provide support for the senior medical staff in the care of the Unit/Department’s patients
    •  Review and manage referred paediatric patients at A & E
    •  In liaison with the Consultants, conduct ward rounds and review all paediatric in-patients at the wards, ICU, General Nursery and Special Care Unit
    •  Facilitate the timely admission and discharge of all patients in accordance with hospital policy
    •  Review all investigation results in a timely manner, and to ensure all paediatric prescribing is undertaken with utmost care
    •  Regular attendance both in-hours and out-of-hours according to manning charts or rosters
    •  Assist management in drawing up and implementing policies and procedures for the Unit
    •  Ensure that patients/families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decisions and follow-up
    •  Participation in the relevant department/unit quality activities program(s) as requested by the Units/Departments
    •  Be responsive to patient and relatives’ complaints, liaising with appropriate senior staff and the patient advocate
    •  Participate in the management of patients in the Well Baby Clinic
    •  Participate in Cardiac Camps, when necessary

    Required Qualifications for the Position

    •  Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery
    •  MMed. in Paediatrics
