    Finance Associate

    About the Role

    Reporting to the Team Lead - Finance, SunCulture is seeking a Finance and Accounts Associate who will be responsible for managing all expenses, accruals, general ledger account analysis, and reconciliations. They will also be responsible for processing and maintaining prepaid expenses, and deferred accounts. Assist with month-end close and the preparation of the annual budget for multiple departments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare, process, and/or follow up supporting documentation for Invoices/Credits.
    • Ensure all cash releases via bank or Mpesa are processed properly and deposited as per scheduled date i.e. weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
    • Receive the Purchase orders and ensure all the information is recorded in the system.
    • Do supplier reconciliation, ensure accounts payable expenditures are reasonable by referring any irregularities to your reporting head before posting.
    • Collect, record, and verify vendor accounts payable information before releasing payment information records.
    • Prepare Accounts Payable accruals and ensure all the accruals are completed every end month.
    • Ensure supplier statements are reconciled to invoices on a timely basis.
    • Any other finance-related role assigned from time to time by your reporting head.

    • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA-section 3) is preferred.
    • 2 years of accounting work experience.

    BI Analyst

    About the Role

    A BI Analyst serves as the central point of expertise for business intelligence within our organization, acting as the go-to resource for PowerBI-driven reporting and analytics. This role leverages deep PowerBI proficiency to accelerate dashboard development, ensure data integrity, and drive actionable insights with a mastery of PowerBI, ready to deliver immediate value through expert-level dashboard development and analytics. Fueled by curiosity, innovation, and a strong sense of ownership, the BI Analyst proactively seeks opportunities to simplify processes, uncover insights through self-discovery, and take full responsibility for delivering high-impact solutions that exceed expectations. The BI Analyst collaborates across teams to align data visualizations with business needs, optimizes existing dashboards, performs root cause analyses, and maintains a trusted, efficient reporting ecosystem.

    Responsibilities

    • Business Collaboration and Requirements Gathering: Partner with department heads, business users, and other teams to identify reporting needs, challenges, and opportunities. Translate stakeholder requirements into impactful PowerBI dashboards or enhancements that track key metrics and KPIs, ensuring alignment with business goals. Provide clear timelines, prioritize deliverables, and foster trust through effective communication and polished solutions that enable real-time, data-driven decisions.
    • Data Visualization and Reporting: Design and develop intuitive, high-impact visualizations and reports using PowerBI, ensuring they communicate insights clearly and support strategic initiatives.
    • Data Engineering Collaboration: Coordinate with data engineers to specify required data points, formats, and structures for the data warehouse, ensuring 99.99% accuracy and availability for dashboard consumption.
    • Dashboard Optimization and Maintenance: Analyze usage patterns of existing dashboards to identify underutilized ones for retirement, maintaining an optimal portfolio (not too many, not too few). Simplify layouts, optimize backend DAX queries to reduce latency, and proactively enhance dashboards to anticipate future business needs and improve efficiency.
    • Dashboard Access Management: Implement and manage role-based access control (RBAC) for dashboards, ensuring appropriate permissions for relevant stakeholders without over-provisioning. Monitor usage patterns and streamline access as needed to maintain security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
    • Ad Hoc Analytics and Root Cause Analysis: Address one-off requests beyond standard dashboards, including deep dives into data trends, hypothesis testing, anomaly investigations, or explaining underlying factors behind descriptive metrics. Support quick analyses, minor dashboard tweaks, lightweight reports for MVPs/projects, and raw data extractions (e.g., CSV/Excel) or historical backfills from available source systems, ensuring the highest standards of data accuracy.
    • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and best practices in business intelligence. Driven by curiosity and innovation, proactively identify and implement process enhancements—such as streamlined data extraction or optimized analytics workflows—to reduce manual efforts and enhance efficiency. Take ownership of initiatives, ensuring follow-through to completion and delivering solutions that foster a culture of data trust.

    Qualifications 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a BI Analyst, BI Developer, or Data Analyst, with a proven track record in dashboard development and analytics.
    • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing PowerBI dashboards, including complex visualizations and interactive elements.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build trust with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Exceptional presentation abilities, capable of distilling complex data into accessible narratives for diverse audiences.
    • Strategic thinker with an innovative mindset, skilled at transforming business challenges into practical, data-backed solutions.

    Required Skills

    • PowerBI Stack Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Power Query, DAX, MDX, and PowerBI Desktop, including writing and optimizing DAX queries.
    • Data Handling: Technical skills in mining, cleaning, and analyzing data using databases and analytics tools.
    • SQL Expertise: Strong working knowledge of SQL in relational databases and ClickHouse data warehouses, including advanced techniques like joins, window functions, CTEs, aggregations, and query optimization for large datasets.

    Senior Data Scientist

    About the Role

    The Senior Data Scientist is a visionary leader driving AI and data science innovation at SunCulture, championing the development of an AI-led self-service data platform to transform how teams access and leverage data. With a mastery of machine learning, generative AI, and data science methodologies, this role delivers immediate business value through cutting-edge solutions. Fueled by curiosity, innovation, and a strong sense of ownership, the Senior Data Scientist proactively identifies opportunities, leads proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives to test hypotheses, and collaborates with the Head of Data to unlock transformative efficiencies across operations in Kenya, Uganda, and Côte d'Ivoire. This role owns critical ML models like Credit Scoring, ensures ethical AI practices, and drives predictive analytics to enhance revenue, credit decisions, collections, and marketing.

    Key Responsibilities

    • AI and Data Science Leadership: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML projects, from ideation and business scoping to prototyping, model packaging (e.g., via Docker), and deployment with DevOps, ensuring seamless integration into production environments.
