    Programme Coordinator

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, Human Rights and Social Inclusion unit and reporting to the Inter-Regional Adviser, Programme Development Branch, the consultant will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

    • Develop the framework for localizing global UMF Indicators to national, regional or local context.
    • Prepare terms of reference for national State of SDGs in cities reports, assessment templates and research model.
    • Lead the drafting of the National States of SDG in cities report.
    • Develop communication materials for city’s engagement in national State of SDGs in Cities report and related events.
    • Develop detailed standards, communications materials and internal certification process for SDG Cities Certifications and lead the piloting of the certification process.
    • Develop communications materials format to showcase national urban SDG achievements for international conferences and national SDG awareness events.
    • Organize the CMHC Housing Session to be held on March 30 including but not limited drafting of the event’s concept note and agenda, database list of proposed panelists or speakers, communication with the partners and organizing committee and handle the event’s logistics.
    • Development of Technical Hub communication materials and awareness raising.
    • Develop and implementation of certification process for Promising Practices, similar to the SDG Cities Certification process, which is used to rank current 150 promising practices and future ones.
    • Finalize Global Compendium of Promising Practices in print, video and online version. Prepare for the printing 1000 copies.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Master’s degree in International Relations, preferably in: Project Management, Social Sciences, International Development, Programme Support and Political Science is required.
    • Relevant working experience, of at least 10 years, in the field of Project Management is required.

    Consultant - Slum Upgrading for Africa

    Under the guidance of the Programme Manager for the PSUP, the consultant will have responsibilities as outlined below:

    • Develop the Report content collection and production effort. This includes overseeing the process to distribute tasks, maintain a strict research workflow schedule, liaise with the different researchers and provide guidance and additional support where needed,
    • Conduct research and writing for the Global Report. This includes literature review, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, spatial analysis and mapping, content drafting and provision of additional reviews as needed,
    • Organize, facilitate, and follow-up internal and external data collection related to the final report of slums and the PSUP,
    • Develop inputs to the UNITAC (“Just transitions in vulnerable places”) project’s inception phase in Namibia. This includes liaising with partners.
    • Develop inputs to a Citywide Strategy guide training tool and provide any other relevant input when requested.
    • Review of plans, technical support to project documents and proposals and review of strategic documents
    • Prepare implementation documents for the Guinea Conakry Project

    Qualifications/special skills

    • A Bachelor's degree in field(s) of architecture, urban development, urban planning, social sciences, international development, political science, economics or similar is required.
    • 2 year experience on project implementation, research and/or community engagement, related to land, housing and shelter, slum upgrading and urban regeneration is required.

    Specialist on Urban Young People

    Supervision

    The Consultant will be under the overall leadership of the Programme Management Officer – Young Gamechangers Initiative in the Planning, Finance and Economy Section, and technical under the Programme Management Officer, Specialist Children and Youth, HRSI.

    Responsibilities

    The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Conduct a literature review on governance, digital engagement and inclusive public spaces within the context of each country and assess the situation particularly for young women
    • Mentoring and training of the YGI evidence-gathering team in each country
    • Develop a research framework on youth and governance, digital engagement and inclusive public spaces that aligns with planning and policy requirments in each context
    • Co-design evidence-gathering methodologies and tools for research and evaluation activities
    • Review and provide input on studio curriculum design
    • Co-design with country youth advisors a framework and tool for benchmarking, measuring and monitoring youth wellbeing and health (in collaboration with WHO)
    • Contribute to evidence gathering activities and outputs with Youth Expert and Innovation Specialist
    • Mentor graduate students and planners in each country interested in providing research reports or policy briefs related to YGI initiative, including recruitment for areas of focus related to activity sustainability, including further resource mobilization, implementation of YGI applied projects and on-going measuring of impact.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Advanced university degree in public policy and management, social sciences connected to the fields of creativity and innovation, international development, urban studies or related subjects is required
    • At least two (2) years experience of working in the field of innovation/creativity in the area of sustainable development is required.
    • Excellent research skills
    • Experience and knowledge of young people, health and well-being and research is required.
    • Proven experience in the development of programmes/strategies on young people’s research
    • Professional and academic experience on themes related to urban policy and development, public policy, social inclusion, open/digital government is required
