    Farm Clinical Officer

    Role Objective:

    As a critical role on the Farm site, the Farm Clinical Officer is responsible for coordinating all First Aid activities on the Farm and undertaking Occupational Health services by providing advisory services for the staff and community
    related education / awareness programmes.

    First Aid

    • To coordinate all first aid activities on the farm and be Chief first aider in the farm.
    • To sensitize all worker on the farm on importance of VCT and counselling.
    • Carry out health screening of all workers joining the farm and those from sick leave or leave before proceeding to their workplace.
    • Administer non- prescriptive (over the counter) drugs as and when necessary.
    • Identifying ailments that are self-induced, i.e. drinking and it’s after effects, personal injuries and illnesses sustained outside the work place.
    • Updating the general register as per the requirements of OSHA/DOSH, in regard to sickness, injuries and painting of buildings.
    • To advise and be keen on identifying and advising managements on disease outbreaks that poses a threat to food contamination.
    • To be the referral officer in cases that require advanced treatment to doctors and hospitals.
    • In charge of monitoring and report to management progress of employee patients taken to hospitals either in or outpatients.

    Health & Safety and Workers Welfare

    • To advise management on incidences of occupational diseases, and preventative/control methods and procedures.
    • Responsible for all health and safety training on the farm in conjunction with the compliance/Health and safety.
    • Assist in the auditing of all health and safety issues.

    Training

    • In conjunction with guidance from the Group Compliance Manager, liaise with the officials from the Ministry of Health on training programs that might be of importance to farm workers i.e. HIV campaign awareness, hygiene etc.
    • To coordinate all First Aid training on the farm Health education trainings-general hygiene practices like washing of hands before handling food, after visiting the toilet, general body hygiene etc.

    Records

    • Responsible for completion of data, reports, records related to sickness/ illness on the farm
    • Keeping records on all injuries and accidents that occur on the farm by filling the General register

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

    • As key First Aiders, must be available/contactable where needed
    • Ensure all documentation accurately completed
    • Timely reporting
    • Cholinesterase Testing
    • Highlight serious cases to Head Office

    Key Competencies:

    • Registered Community Nurse (KRCHN) with, ideally, a minimum 2+ years’ experience
    • Computer Literate and Proactive

    Salads & Herbs Section Head

    Role Objective:

    • Establishing and maintaining all herbs and salads/lettuce and any other assigned duties in line with production.
    • Responsible for planning, assigning, inspecting and supervising the work of semi-skilled and skilled assigned to the Facility and all machineries

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan all duties to be undertaken daily in the production line as per the company requirements and directive from your immediate manager or supervisor
    • Supervise the employees, and set work schedules for all operations such as planting weeding fertilizer application, irrigation schedule, crop protection and harvesting.
    • Keep Accurate Records of all operations, complains, per crop per blocks of operation.
    • Follow up with the management on the orders scheduled before any crop protection plan.
    • Ensure proper harvesting procedures are adhered for all the crops assigned.
    • Ensure all laboratory sampling such as MRL test are done as per the Schedule.
    • Assist in ensuring the farm hygiene is up to the standard.

    Key Performance Indicators

    • Ability to meet agreed production targets
    • Ability to make predictions with a narrow margin of error (15%)
    • Farm and crop cleanliness.
    • Timeliness and quality of farm cultural operations i.e. support, weed control
    • Irrigation efficiency and management of waste.
    • Insect pest and disease control
    • Plant nutrition

    Qualification

    • Knowledge of salads and lettuce growing
    • Diploma or Degree in BSc in Horticulture or a related field
    • 2– 4 Years’ management experience in a horticultural field
    • Proficiency in computer skills

    Avocado Orchard Manager

    Role:

    Responsible for oversight and management of all activities within the Avocado orchard concerning production of seedlings and general maintenance of the nursery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Nursery Management

    • The upkeep and maintenance of the nursery compound and infrastructure within.
    • Oversee and coordinate land and medium preparation, potting, planting, and Scion grafting activities to ensure optimal output.
    • General plant hygiene and health.
    • Observe and monitor plant health for signs of stress, disease or pests incursion.
    • Fertilization and pest control activities as agreed with your immediate senior manager
    • Management of Inventories and logistics.
    • The utilization, management and maintenance of the irrigation system, pest control equipment, field working tools, etc.
    • Health and Safety – ensure safe working conditions
    • Quality control, of recovered yields, all works undertaken, etc
    • Trailing new techniques and methodologies like propping, pruning, weeding, mulching, etc
    • Establishment of a model avocado orchard within the farm with a high-level management
    • Ensure management of seedling health in the nursery.
    • Oversee and ensure management of inventories and logistics up to and including utilization, management, and maintenance of the orchard irrigation system.
    • Source Avocado fruits from the market for planting seed for grafting.
    • Responsible for sourcing of Avocado scions for grafting.
    • Plan and forecast Avocado seedling grafting and delivery as per the seasonal demands.
    • Coming up with innovative ideas, techniques, and methodologies to promote optimal quality output

    People Management

    • Ensure that all labour in the section is effective and efficient and that all staff achieves the recommended daily tasks.
    • Maintain staff discipline and welfare in accordance with the company policy

    Key competencies:

    • Knowledge of Avocado orchard operations preferred.
    • Diploma or Degree in BSc in Horticulture or a related field
    • 2 – 4 Years’ management experience in a horticultural field
    • Computer literate
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic mechanical and general machinery operation experience.
    • Ability to work efficiently and methodically and follow written instructions.
    • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Good time management skills.
    • Understanding and commitment to Health and Safety best practice.
    • Attention to detail

    • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
    • Ability to work independently, good team spirit, ability to work in a cosmopolitan environment.

    Key Performance Measure:

    • Task completed on time and to specific specification.
    • Pruning and other orchard tasks completed according to seasonal and business requirements
