As Junior O&M Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining the portfolio of existing Solar PV C&I projects across Africa, particularly in Keya, ensuring their success and long-term sustainability. Your role will include overseeing O&M activities, coordinating with our O&M local contractors, addressing operational challenges, and identifying opportunities for improvement to maximize the impact of our Solar PV assets. This involves collaborating with other teams in the company and external O&M partners, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. • Portfolio optimization: Ensure optimal energy generation and system uptime through proactive maintenance and performance optimization.
• Stakeholder engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and local stakeholders for collaboration and support for the company’s initiatives.
• Operational excellence: Support senior management in streamlining O&M processes to reduce downtime and operational costs.

Foundational Objectives

• Routine O&M checks and troubleshooting: Conduct regular inspections to identify faults and performance issues. Support regular online inspections and performance assessments of Solar PV assets to identify any issues or potential improvements daily with our O&M contractors.
• Report and documentation: Maintain logs of maintenance activities, incidents, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Training and skill development: Continuously improve technical knowledge through on-the-job training and industry certifications.

Key skills to drive impact

• Technical understanding of Solar PV projects (C&I): Deep understanding of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar PV systems, including design, implementation, and , specially, preventive and corrective maintenance, to ensure projects are performing efficiently and effectively.
• Problem-solving: Ability to analyze system performance data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
• Health and Safety compliance: Awareness of safety protocols and industry standards.
• Communication and reporting: Ability to convey technical findings clearly to senior management and external local partners and clients.

In addition to portfolio management, you will handle the general administrative and managerial responsibilities required to support the company’s activities in Africa. This involves collaborating with other teams in the company, exploring potential project development opportunities, aligning initiatives with organizational objectives, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. By maintaining and improving the projects performance, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission of delivering clean energy solutions across the region.
