Job Purpose Statement

The Senior, Database Administrator role is to support the bank’s databases and database infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas; particularly NCBA group databases, database storage, database server operating systems and database backups in collaboration with external vendors, system experts and consultants.

Ideal Job Specifications

Academic:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.

Professional:

• ITIL, OCA, OCP, OCM, other relevant database professional qualifications in IT field would be an added advantage
• MS SQL Certification will also be an added advantage
•  Project Management certification and experience is preferred e.g. PRINCE2, PMP

Desired work experience:

• Seven years’ experience in databases and storage support on medium to large organizations.
• Working experience in a bank or other financial services organization would be added advantage

Desired work experience:

•  At least 6 years of working experience in a data science position.
•  Highly skilled in statistical and modeling packages such as SAS, Matlab, R, Python and other advanced analysis tools.

The Data Scientist is responsible for advising the business on the potential of data, to provide new insights into the business’s mission, and through the use of advanced statistical analysis, data mining, and data visualization techniques, to create solutions that enable enhanced business performance.

The Data Scientist also plays a key role in the management of:

• Build econometric and statistical models for various problems inclusive of projections,classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling and simulations
• Build the foundation of state-of-the-art scientific and technical capabilities within the Data Science department in order to support several planned and ongoing data analytics projects.
• Provide forward-thinking recommendations to the business by building in-depth understanding of the problem domain and available business data assets, especially those pertaining to strategic initiatives and value-based programs
• Execute ad-hoc data mining and exploratory statistics tasks on large data-sets related to thebusiness 'strategies.
• Generate actionable insights applying advanced statistical techniques, for example, predictive statistical models, segmentation analysis, customer profiling, analysis, survey design, and datamining
• Collaborate with senior data scientists to communicate obstacles and findings to relevantstakeholders in an effort to improve decision-making and drive business performance.

Desired work experience:

• At least 4 years working experience working with business analysis/informatics and business outcomes research within a fast-paced and complex business setting, preferablyworking as support data scientist junior support personnel.
• Experience working in probability and statistics, time-series analysis, or econometrics as well as experience in the use of machine learning methods, for example, linear regression,decision tress, and so forth. Experience as well as indepth knowledge of the Python programming language, SAS Enterprise Miner and substantial knowledge of big data platforms such as Aster and Hadoop.

• This role will drive management of the Master Data strategy that brings together the fundamental business data building blocks that are shared across multiple business transactions, e.g. T-24 captures and generates data becomes a I MDM asset', that is used in other systems such as customer management system (CRM), SAP -Bl regulatory reporting. This role owns and delivers on the Master Data & Data Quality Management strategy and reports into the Chief Data Officer, CDO. The Data Quality Lead is a senior management role tasked with providing leadership and overseeing the following administrative and operational functions within the data management office and group:
  • Master Data Management: this function is responsible for Master data management (MDM), a process and technology-enabled discipline in which business and IT work together to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability of the enterprise's official shared master data assets.
  • Data Quality Management: is the capability to appropriately design data quality requirements across the business data domains, diagnose data quality issues, correct them and monitor the solution effectiveness.
• At its core, the role involves supporting the CDO and other team leaders in implementing the Enterprise Data Management Framework in regards to Master Data & Data Quality Strategies, drive strategic performance in order to achieve strategic results that is, Data is seen as a Strategic Asset at NCBA Group PLC and creates sustainable stakeholder value

Ideal Job Specifications
Academic:

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Finance & Banking MIS, or Information Management, operations management
• Masters or diploma in data management/data science, will be an added advantage

Professional:

• Hands on experience in Database Development and scripting, with expert level skills in writing SQL queries.
• Hands on experience in developing ETL packages using Oracle DI, SQL Server Integration Services, SAP Data Services
• Deep understanding of industry standard formats and protocols (XML/XPath/XQuery and JSON)
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and reporting skills
• A good knowledge of the information requirements and standard reporting within Financial Services industry

Desired work experience:

• Minimum 8 years' experience in IT systems development within a large, digitized organization designing, implementing and managing mission critical systems, with at least 5 of those years within BI development and/or support.
