    Anti-Money Laundering Analyst

    Brief Description:

     Reporting to the Principal Officer - Money Laundering Reporting Office, the role holder has the responsibility to ensure adherence to the organization’s anti money laundering (AML) and counter terrorist financing (CTF) controls. The person will also ensure that M-PESA services are offered in compliance with provisions of the Proceeds of Crime & Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2009.

    Job Responsibilities                

    • Implement adequate AML and CTF controls to ensure that all possible areas of AML & CTF concerns are covered.
    • Perform ongoing Know Your Customer/Partner reviews to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and the company policy.
    • Maintain an effective AML awareness program across the company.
    • Perform periodic review of the due diligence and training programs to assess effectiveness and address emerging risks.
    • Update weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the state of AML program and implement the feedback provided.
    • Proactively identify risks in the assigned projects and follow up on implementation of agreed mitigation controls.
    • Report control weaknesses or lapses to the line manager in a timely manner, recommend mitigation controls or process changes and follow up implementation of agreed actions.
    • Follow up for timely implementation of recommendations made by Internal and External auditors.
    • Ensure that AML procedures and processes are in line with regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain detailed knowledge of current AML regulations and keep track of developments within the AML scope.
    • Maintain strong working relationship with internal stakeholders such Channels, Sales & Distribution, Financial Services, Enterprise Business Unit, Corporate Affairs and Consumer Care to ensure that compliance issues are regularly discussed and addressed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
    • Good knowledge of payment services and operations
    • Knowledge of money laundering techniques and regulations
    • Experience in working with Server Query Language (SQL) and analysing large volumes of data
    • Results oriented, effective communicator and a team player eager to learn and share experiences
    • Skills in big data analytics or robotic process automation will be an added advantage

    Product Owner – Insurance

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Tribe Lead - Next Financial Services, the role holder will be involved in fformulation of Insurance and related products strategy in the different insurance verticals in order to drive financial Inclusion and health, security and stability agenda for Safaricom customers and businesses driven by extensive market research and analysis in an agile environment.

    The role works with different business partners, business unit partners and cross-functional teams to develop presence and penetrate M-PESA in the Insurance sector as a whole.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement Safaricom’s Insurance strategy.
    • Develop and launch Safaricom flagship insurance product propositions.
    • Conceptualize new strategic initiatives around the insurance Industry.
    • Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and squads to structure and execute business initiatives, lead analysis and develop and communicate final recommendations that impact the customers insurance needs
    • Engage with key influencers and decision makers across different teams to accomplish the financial services goals.
    • Lead a cross-organizational team in finding solutions that are fit and sound for the market.
    • Collaborate with new and existing partners to develop new ideas based on your industry experience.
    • Champion the adoption of best practices and procedures for the changing trends and technologies in financial services.
    • Coordinate the management of ongoing insurance products and insurance partners.
    • Identify strategic partnership areas with Insurance companies.
    • Increasing the profitability of existing Insurance products.
    • Define compelling go-to-market strategy for insurance product that position them competitively in the market and support the relevant teams in the execution.
    • Collaborate with cross functional teams to manage the entire life cycle of the Insurance products.
    • Suggest and develop processes and services to improve current insurance products.
    • Help organize and lead critical planning meetings, status updates, business reviews and other communications.
    • Be an expert in customer trends, stay informed of data-driven marketing news, emerging technologies and competitor offerings.
    • Support the financial services and strategic partnerships business in key business projects and initiatives.
    • Deploy leadership and management of squad members with agile ways of working.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field.
    • A Masters degree will be an added advantage
    • 5-8 years’ experience in a Financial Institution, 2-3 of which should have been in managerial  role preferably in Insurance, technology or telecommunication Industry handling business/product/strategy development
    • Must have deep understanding and experience in the Insurance regulatory requirements.
    • Must have strong understanding of healthcare financing, insurance (all fields) and mobile phone markets in developing countries.
