    Senior Medical Officer (Epidemiologist)

    Requirement for appointment  For appoint to this grade an officer must have

    • a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.CH.B) degree from an  institution recognized by the Medical Practitioner and Dentists Board; 
    • a Masters degree in Epidemiology from a recognized institution;
    • a registration Certificate by the Medical Practitioner and Dentists Board; and

    This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: 

    • assessing, planning, implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes;. providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care and delivery, providing health education and counseling to patients/clients and community on identified health needs;

    Duties and Responsibilities Duties and responsibilities at this level entail;-

    •  treating and rehabilitating patients/clients using Physiotherapy interventions i.e. electrotherapy, manipulative therapy/technology, exercise therapy among others in clinical areas and the community; 
    • planning and organizing group Physiotherapy treatment/sessions for patients and clients; evaluating treatment outcomes for review, placement, referral or discharge;  
    • initiating community disability  assessment outreach programs;
    • liaising with other stakeholders in providing appropriate advice to patients/clients on exercise, posture and movement; 
    • providing health promotion and education to patients/clients on neuromusculoskeletal disorders and health;
    • maintaining an up-to-date data base for Physiotherapy services for input in to the integrated health information system;
    • inducting students on practical training on physiotherapy services;
    • requisitioning and ensuring availability and proper utilization of Physiotherapy supplies and equipment as well as giving support and health education to patients and relatives in hospital; analyzing data and preparing reports; and 
    • coaching and mentoring of staff.

    • preparing stains and reagents;
    • recruiting and preparing bleeding of blood donors for transfusion  services;

    Medical Laboratory Technologist III

    • Preparing work plans and programs for laboratory activities;
    • submitting samples to reference laboratories and institutes for further analysis; 
    • preparing laboratory manuals and quality specifications;
    • carrying out efficacy tests; 
    • initiating requisition proposals and undertaking technical evaluation for laboratory supplies/equipment and formulating technical laboratory standards.
    • performing blood grouping  and storing blood products to peripheral health facilities; and
    • processing the specimen according to the specified Standards Operating Procedures (SOP).
