About the role:

This role oversees the supply chain operations underpinning Sun King's PAYG LPG business in Kenya. The scope spans commercial relationships with bulk LPG vendors, safe and efficient product movement, inventory planning across the warehouse and depot network, and the full lifecycle management of cylinder assets deployed to customers and riders. The role also ensures effective loss governance, capital efficiency, and compliance with Sun King's safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

The role holder manages vendor performance and credit terms alongside physical stock, ensuring accurate goods receipt, account reconciliation, SLA compliance, and reliable supply continuity. The position balances service availability with working capital efficiency at every stage, from unissued stock in depots to cylinders circulating in the field. A consistent, reliable performance-reporting framework provides visibility across the supply chain.

As PAYG LPG expands into new markets, effective management of the vendor base, inventory network, and cylinder assets will be essential to ensuring safe, compliant, and capital-efficient growth.

What You Will Be Expected to Do

 LPG Supply Management: 

• Oversee bulk LPG transportation from vendor facilities to refilling points or bulk storage locations.
• Ensure the safe and timely movement of bulk LPG across the supply network.
• Monitor real-time supply flows and stock-in-transit visibility to maintain operational continuity.
• Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks, including transport delays, facility capacity constraints, and routing issues.
• Improve bulk transportation costs and routing efficiency.
• Ensure accurate goods-receipt verification through dual-weighing at refilling points and bulk storage facilities, identifying discrepancies against vendor dispatch records.
• Maintain continuous, safe, and reliable physical LPG movement throughout the Sun King network.

  Inventory Planning & Replenishment

• Manage inventory flows for cookstoves, cylinders, FMCDs, accessories, and LPG from suppliers and depots into the warehouse network before field deployment.
• Establish and monitor warehouse and depot stock levels in line with demand.
• Develop and maintain safety stock policies across the warehouse and depot network.
• Minimize stock-outs while optimizing working capital tied up in unissued warehouse and depot inventory.
• Establish a replenishment planning framework aligned with customer demand and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with Sales on demand forecasting and inventory requirements.
• Maintain product availability across the warehouse and depot network while optimizing pre-deployment working capital.

Asset Lifecycle Management

• Maintain end-to-end tracking and visibility of deployed cylinders across markets, including assets held by customers, riders, or in transit.
• Improve monthly working capital efficiency across deployed cylinders by addressing idle, unreturned, or uncollected units in the field.
• Manage the cylinder recertification pipeline, including scheduling and tracking cylinders due or overdue for recertification.
• Establish and maintain loss and shrinkage governance processes for unaccounted cylinders, covering declarations, recovery tracking, and write-off approvals.
• Maintain a consolidated reporting framework covering supply, inventory, vendor SLAs, and asset KPIs to enable informed, data-based operational assessments.
• Improve deployed-cylinder productivity and capital efficiency across the field fleet, backed by accurate and reliable performance reporting.

Safety, Quality & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure LPG storage, refilling, and bulk transportation operations comply with Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) licensing and safety requirements.
• Maintain depot and facility licences, permits, and inspection readiness, including EPRA, county government, fire safety certification, and NEMA requirements, where applicable.
• Maintain cylinder quality standards covering leak testing, valve and regulator integrity, and dent or corrosion checks, in line with KEBS cylinder standards and recertification requirements.
• Ensure compliance with weights and measures requirements for gas dispensed by weight, including dual-weighing procedures at facility and shop level.
• Establish and audit safety protocols for bulk transportation, depot handling, and last-mile cylinder exchange, including PPE, fire safety, and hazardous-material handling, in line with DOSH requirements.
• Coordinate incident investigations and reporting for safety events, including leaks, accidents, and near-misses, and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Ensure transporters, distributors, depots, and refill centres maintain full compliance with applicable EPRA requirements.
• Maintain a safe operating environment, prevent major safety incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance across the depot and shop network.

 Vendor & Partner Relationships

• Manage commercial relationships and intake coordination with LPG bulk vendors and other supply chain partners.
• Monitor and uphold vendor credit terms, including payment due dates and invoicing cycles, and address any breaches.
• Conduct regular vendor statement-of-account (SOA) reconciliations, covering invoiced, consumed, and paid volumes.
• Establish, monitor, and uphold vendor SLAs covering refill turnaround times, dispatch timelines, and quality standards.
• Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews and maintain performance scorecards.
• Negotiate commercial terms, including pricing, credit terms, SLAs, and volumes, as business scale and market conditions evolve.
• Manage vendor risk, supplier diversification, and onboarding of new vendors as the business expands into new markets.
• Act as the escalation point for vendor disputes and facilitate timely resolution.
• Maintain reliable vendor relationships that ensure uninterrupted supply, cost efficiency, and compliance with contractual credit terms and SLAs.

About the role:

This role oversees the end-to-end physical operations of Sun King’s PAYG LPG business in Kenya, covering supplier intake, bulk transport, depot management, cylinder asset lifecycle, shop replenishment, and last-mile delivery.

In parallel, the role will develop scalable Last Mile Delivery (LMD) capabilities to serve LPG operations today and accommodate additional product categories in the future. The position brings supply chain and asset management, depot infrastructure, and last-mile optimization into one integrated physical operations function.

The successful candidate will work closely with Product and Commercial teams to develop systems, processes, and features that enable the LPG supply chain to scale while maintaining a high standard of last-mile customer service.

What You Would Be Expected to Do:

LPG Supply Management

• Coordinate LPG sourcing and intake with Commercial teams and supplier partners.
• Oversee bulk transport from suppliers to refilling points or bulk storage facilities.
• Maintain safe and timely movement of bulk LPG across the network.
• Monitor refill turnaround times and maintain supply continuity.

• Establish common routing frameworks and rider productivity standards.
