    Director, Macroeconomics Statistics

    Job Purpose:

    • Reporting to the Director, General, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring activities in the Population and Social Statistics Directorate.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Overseeing collection, analysis and dissemination of macroeconomic statistics;
    • Coordinating all statistical production activities related to the macroeconomic statistics;
    • Providing technical advice on methodologies related to macroeconomic statistics to other directorates in accordance with international standards
    • Terms of Employment: Five (5) Years Contract Renewable once
    • Providing technical advice that relates to macroeconomic statistics on collection and compilation quality of data to Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs);
    • Providing statistical data to international and regional agencies that Kenya is party to;
    • Planning for effective production and management of macroeconomic statistics;
    • Supporting regional integration processes such in EAC, COMESA, UN;
    • Participating in international forums on development requisite methodologies for compilation macroeconomic statistics;
    • Overseeing preparation of relevant Chapters in the annual economic survey and statistical abstract;
    • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of budgets and policies;
    • Providing leadership in development of work plans for staff at all levels;
    • Ensuring adequate financial resources, human resources and assets necessary for the delivery of services;
    • Reporting on the performance of the Directorate; coordinating development of staff in line with both individual and institutional performance objectives;
    • Undertaking any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Must have at least ten (10) years working experience in Statistics, of which three (3) years should have been at the level of a Senior manager or equivalent position;
    • Must have a Bachelors’ degree in Statistics; Mathematics; Economics or any other related disciplines from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Master’s degree in Statistics; Mathematics; Economics or any other related disciplines from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program from a recognized institution lasting not less than six (6) weeks;
    • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution;
    • Must have outstanding communication and motivation skills;
    • Must have working knowledge and experience in financial management with respect to planning and budgeting;
    • Must have analytical and human resource management skills;
    • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment;

    Director, Population and Social Statistics

    • Coordinating the provision of technical support on population and health, social statistics, cartographic and Geographical Information System data to stakeholders;
    • Coordinating all activities of Kenya Population and Housing Census;
    • Overseeing the undertaking of scheduled ad-hoc, demographic and health surveys;
    • Ensuring the provision of population data and write-ups for Annual
    • Economic Survey and National and County Statistical Abstract;
    • Coordinating the constitution of the census and household based surveys Management Committees;
    • Coordinating census cartographic mapping and map production activities;
    • Overseeing development and management of geospatial database; and
    • Spearheading the production and dissemination of Population and Health, social statistics, cartographic and Geographical Information System;
    • Providing leadership in the development and implementation of budgets and policies;
    • Providing leadership in development of work plans for staff at all levels;
    • Ensuring adequate financial resources, human resources and assets necessary for the delivery of services;

    Senior Manager, Nutrition & Environment Statistics

    Job Purpose:

    • Reporting to the Director, Production Statistics, the job holder will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring activities in the Food Monitoring, Nutrition and Environment Statistics Division.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinating the Collection, compiling, analyzing and disseminating statistics on Food, Nutrition and Environment;
    • Overseeing the production of the Economic Survey report on Environment and Natural resources;
    • Coordinating the production of the Statistical Abstract tables on
    • Environment and Natural Resources;
    • Overseeing the production of subject specific reports (food insecurity, nutrition surveys etc);
    • Coordinating the subject specific reports on food insecurity and nutrition;Terms of Employment: Permanent and Pensionable
    • Coordinating the responses to data requests on food monitoring, nutrition, environment statistics and requests for SDGs/SDIs;
    • Coordinating the food security indicators in the Leading Economic Indicators (LEI) Report;
    • Overseeing the maintenance and updating the Kenya Information (Ken Info) database;
    • Collaborating with stakeholders in planning surveys, collecting and compiling statistics on Food, Nutrition and environment;
    • Managing and developing staff within the Division;
    • Reporting on the performance of the Division;
    • Undertaking any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor.

    Requirements for Appointment

    • Must have served in the grade of Manager, Statistics or equivalent position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: -;
    • Statistics; Economics, Mathematics; or any related qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Master Degree in any of the following disciplines: - Statistics; Economics, Mathematics or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Must have a Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Program lasting not less than six (6) weeks or any other related qualifications from a recognized institution;
    • Must be adept with appropriate computer skills;
    • Must have analytical, financial and human resource management skills;
    • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment.
