    Mechanical/HVAC Technician (Facilities and Operations)

    Job Purpose:

    Carry out activities relating to HVAC equipment management involving operation monitoring, maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing/handover, and third-party service supervision, assist the supervisor on spares requirements, pre-purchase technical appraisal and annual equipment replacement plan.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support for HVAC equipment throughout Aga Khan University as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;
    • Document all HVAC activities and test results according to department policy;
    • Promptly respond to HVAC equipment Breakdown Maintenance (BDM) request from user Departments as per policy;
    • Timely completion and documentation of HVAC equipment & systems Preventive Maintenance (PPM) as per policy;
    • Liaison with user Departments for HVAC equipment and systems maintenance activities and report to Team Leader on issues arising.
    • Participate in requests for special projects, such as new equipment acquisition/upgrade purchase planning, development of bid specifications, etc;
    • Develop HVAC equipment safety and device-specific in-service education to other technicians and  equipment users as necessary;
    • Perform incident investigation and HVAC equipment performance analysis as required;
    • Develop or review with team leader emergency and safety plans related to the use and operation of HVAC equipment.

    Qualifications and Skills required:

    • Minimum of a Diploma in Refrigeration and air conditioning
    • Computer literate with at least two years experience in a similar position
    • Minimum O-level grade C or equivalent
    • Very good analytical and organisational skills.
    • Sound technical knowledge on HVAC, Centralised air conditioning and refrigeration systems functioning and maintenance (mechanical, electrical/electronic)
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, high integrity and reliable;
    • Very good organisational and analytical skills.
    • Ability to overcome performance barriers.
    • Willingness to learn & teach 
    • Ability to work long hours with minimal supervision, has initiative and is proactive

    Assistant Credit Controller (Credit Control)

    Assistant Credit Controller, Credit Control – (2200005T)

    Job Purpose:

    The Assistant Credit Controller is charged with the responsibility of supporting the Credit Controller in the activities of the credit control office. He/She will assist in ensuring that all amounts for services rendered during clients’ hospital stay are appropriately secured through proper documentation from corporate clients or fully collected if under individual management.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the Credit controller in overseeing activities of the Department.
    • To review In-patient balances for the Intensive care unit, High dependency unit, Coronary Care Unit, Cardio-Thoracic Intensive Unit & and all other long-stay patients’ bills.
    • Responsible for the proper running of packages in place and ensuring that amounts not covered under packages are collected from the patient prior to discharge
    • To assist in the raising of Credit and Debit notes and other bill adjustments
    • Verification of Payment Vouchers for outsourced services provided to the In-patients.
    • Ensure all corporate letters of guarantee and extensions are received on time.
    • Ensure the discharge process for patients is both effective and efficient.
    • Ensure all NHIF admissions are notified, patients updated on the requirements for a claim during admission, and that claims are correctly linked before discharge and submitted to Debtors Department on time.
    • Management of NHIF Rebates and NHIF Preauthorization
    • Participate in all team efforts as departmental needs arise.
    • Perform any other tasks as may be requested by management from time to time

    Qualifications and Skills required:

    • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting option or equivalent
    • CPA (II) or Equivalent
    • Skills in Credit & Debt Collection Management and Financial counseling
    • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role in a busy Credit Control setting preferably in a Hospital set-up
    • Skills in MS Office – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, etc.
    • Excellent leadership skills with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent Customer Service and people management skills including good negotiation Skills
    • A team player with a positive attitude towards work and other members of the team
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including telephone handling skills

    Job Purpose:

    Carry out activities relating to plumbing (cold and hot water/solar), gas, sewer and drainage pipework and equipment maintenance/ management involving operation monitoring, maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing/handover and third party service supervision, assist the supervisor on spares requirement, pre-purchase technical appraisal and annual equipment replacement plan. These are largely classified into assembly, installations and repairs of pipeworks, fittings and fixtures/accessories.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical support for plumbing (cold and hot water/solar), sewer, gas and drainage throughout Aga Khan University as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;
    • Document all plumbing (cold and hot water/solar), sewer, gas and drainage activities and test results according to department policy;
    • Promptly respond to plumbing (cold and hot water/solar), sewer, gas and drainage equipment Breakdown Maintenance (BDM) request from user Departments as per policy;

    Electrician/Electrical Technician (Facilities and Operations)

    Job Purpose:

    Management of Electrical supply and distribution, switchgear and control systems involving maintenance, technical inspection, acceptance testing/handover and third party service supervision, spares requirement assessment, pre-purchase technical appraisal and annual equipment replacement plan.

    Responsibilities:

    • Preparation and updating of Electrical drawings during ongoing remodeling and renovations
    • Coordination with BMS (Building Management System), BIM (Building Information Management), Solar heating and Security teams to ensure optimal functioning of all systems
    • Provide technical support for electrical systems and equipment throughout the Aga Khan University as assigned including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance;
    • Document control: Ensure all documentation pertaining to equipment, systems, maintenance schedules, tests and results, are available and according to department policy;
    • Provide specific advisory/attendance to consultants and procurement teams on new applicable trends and compatibility of systems within AKU.
    • Promptly respond to system/equipment Breakdown Maintenance (BDM) requests from user Departments as per policy;
    • Liaison between AKU and service/maintenance contractors/teams
    • Timely completion of Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for electrical system/equipment
    • Liaison with user Departments for maintenance activities and report to supervisor on issues arising.
    • Participate in electrical quality assurance and Control audits.
    • Coordinate and/or participate in requests for special projects, such as new systems/equipment acquisition purchase planning, development of bid specifications, etc.
    • Develop with electrical supervisor Preventative Maintenance schedules and guidelines;
    • Develop systems/equipment safety and device-specific in-service education to other technicians     and  equipment users as necessary
    • Perform incident investigation and system/equipment performance analysis as required.
    • Develop or review emergency and safety plans related to the use and operation of electrical systems/equipment.

    Qualifications and Skill required:

    • Diploma in Electrical engineering or ongoing Degree in Electrical Engineering with evidence/confirmation from the institution of learning.
    • Must be computer literate and well versed in MS packages (word, excel, PowerPoint, projects, Autocad, outlook, internet)
    • At least two years of experience in a similar position. 
    • “O” level certificate with a minimum of “C” grade or equivalent
    • Competent in technical operation and maintenance of HV/LV distribution, switchgear and controls, Diesel generators, steam boilers, laundry, kitchen equipment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high integrity and reliable;
    • Very good analytical and organisational skills.

    BMS Operator (Facilities and Operations)

    BMS Operator, Facilities & Operations, University Centre – (2200005Q)

    Responsibilities:

    • Ensure appropriate temperature set-point based on ambient temperature and/or user requirement for all HVAC equipment – pumps, AHU, FCU and CCU.
    • Responsible for alarm system integration and management in the BMS software in relation to equipment & System failure, fire and access within the university building
    • Ensure continued and timely Communication to respective teams (Electrical and/or mechanical technicians and teams) on potential system failures/alarms/malfunctions noted on the BMS for quick response/attendance
    • Respond to and resolve Helpdesk work requests within the timescales specified on the work requests.
    • Complete fault diagnosis and generating reports on the whole range of BMS integrated equipment
    • Provide weekly/monthly reports on the whole range of BMS integrated equipment
    • Maintain the health and safety of self and others at all times by adhering to Health and Safety legislation and the University’s Health and Safety Policy and additional safe working practices outlined in the Departmental Safety Handbook.
    • Provide specific advisory/attendance to consultants and procurement teams on new applicable trends and compatibility of systems within AKU.

    • At least 4 years experience in a similar position
    • “O” level certificate with a minimum of “C” grade or equivalent
    • Must have basic knowledge on Electrical and mechanical systems and how they are interfaced into the BMS system/board/panel
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high integrity and reliable;
    • Very good analytical and organisational skills.
    • Ability to overcome performance bariers.
