    Media Intern

    Internship Assignments

    • Assist in implementing Search For Common Ground Media and Digital peace building strategies.
    • Support in branding and visibility
    • Handle technical aspects of audio/ visual Equipment setup and operation, ensuring high quality production values
    • Develop Digital media content targeting various audience
    • Prepare Press and social media packs for projects, events, initiatives and campaigns.
    • Keep a database of all Media - Traditional and Social media Stakeholders
    • Support in Social Media Listening and Early warning data collection and analysis
    • Increase Search media page viewership, Generate Traffic and Engagement with Audience
    • Generate and analyze reports on social media traffic.
    • Facilitate and Document Consent, Safeguarding and Child Protection and Data Protection
    • Complete the Common Ground Journalism Course
    • Complete the Safe Guarding and Child Protection in house Training

    Project Information Management

    • Assist in tracking the project's media output and outcome level results on the periodic basis in close coordination with the project's implementation team as well as with Implementing Partners.
    • Support data collection, verification and compilation from the field as stipulated in the M&E plan.
    • Review and compile media activity reports, project progress reports, photographs, case studies video documentaries, PowerPoint presentations, etc.
    • Update and maintain the project database.
    • As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

    Internship Terms

    • For the purpose of the internship in Kenya, the intern will be supervised by the Senior officer, Media, who will be responsible for setting tasks and evaluating the intern’s work.
    • The work objectives above will be undertaken by the intern on the basis of 5 working days per week, with any days off agreed in advance with the supervisor.
    • The internship will be based in Garissa.
    • The period of the internship will last from January 2024 through June 2025.
    • The internship may be terminated by either side by informing the other in writing giving 1 months’ notice.
    • The prospective intern is required to have a laptop for ease of operations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s/Masters degree in journalism and mass communication or public Relations or any other related field.
    • At least two (0-2) years of NGO or CSO experience in project implementation or management in Kenya. Experience working in Coastal Kenya is an asset.
    • Strong and proven ability in report writing, in English.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, as well as social media platforms.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
    • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
    • Written and oral proficiency in English and Swahili.
    • Knowledge to understand local and global digital landscape trends.
    • Proficient in audio production.
    • Proficient in video production.
    • Proficient in Graphic design.
    • Ability to take professional photographs.
    • Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

    Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (DMEL) Intern

    Internship Assignments

    • Participate in developing and implementing the Country Programme result based M&E plan to generate regular information related to the progress of the program implementation.
    • Participate in designing data collection tools, templates, and assist in regular data collection or generation processes.
    • Assist the Senior Officer, DME in providing technical support to project staff on implementing the M&E plan.
    • Participate in data collection and analysis to determine progress achieved

    Project Information Management

    • Assist in tracking the project's output and outcome level results on the periodic basis in close coordination with the project's implementing team as well as with Implementing Partners.

    M&E Development Support

    • Assist the M&E to build the capacities of the implementing partners for enhancing skills and knowledge for proper and quality data collection and reporting.
    • Contribute to design TOR, training materials, communication materials, and knowledge products related to the program/project and M&E System.
    • Support the M&E to ensure that reports from partners/consultants are complete and meet the Search standards and quality requirements.
    • Assist in the quality assessments of project design, implementation, and closure based on Search corporate quality assurance standards.

    Reporting And Documentation

    • Consolidate Country Programme quarterly progress reports and submit them to the supervisor.
    • Work with the project team to prepare periodic reports of the project by providing M&E related information.
    • Support Programme and Project Managers to ensure that lessons learned from the Country Office evaluations are documented properly in the corporate databases.
    • Contribute to developing and managing knowledge products (knowledge management) of the project.

    General Responsibility

    • Participate in virtual internal and external monitoring through assisting in organizing and facilitating various events such as meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars.
    • Work closely with the project team and relevant stakeholders for monitoring and evaluation of project interventions.
    • Carry out other duties and responsibilities related to DM&E as assigned by the supervisor.

    • Good interpersonal, communications, and facilitation skills
    • Knowledge of managing databases
    • Analytical knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft applications
    • Working knowledge of the English and Swahili language along with writing and communication skills

    Finance and Admin Grants Intern

    Work with the Finance and Administration Department to;

    • Supports in logistics for organization of meetings, field activities, venues and accommodation
    • Initiate purchase request
    • Supports in photocopying, scanning and filing
    • Getting quotes for various procurement as required
    • Prepare bid analysis as required
    • Issue stationery to staff
    • Confirm stock taking for office supplies and initiate requests for replenishment
    • Conduct Watchlist for suppliers, consultants, participants
    • Remit statutory payments
    • Ensure cleanliness of the office
    • Run office errands
    • Supports in Pre-audit assessment
    • Supports in filling withholding tax for consultant payments
