Key Responsibilities
Program management:
- In coordination with the Health Manager, formulate program goals, objectives and intervention strategies and participate in the budgeting process
- Ensure that all hospital activities are implemented as outlined in the project documents
- Review the program activities and priorities on a regular basis updating the Health Manager on gaps and/or provide recommendations on how to improve quality of services
- Participate in planning and implementing health assessments, surveys and campaigns
Human Resource:
- Overall supervision of all nursing and administrative staff
- Routinely monitor staff performance according to their job description and provide written feedback in a timely manner
- Manage leave and R&R plans of nursing staff administrative staff working in the hospital to ensure adequate coverage of the hospital, including nights and weekends
- Compile and submit the call list to the Health Manager at the end of every month for the beginning of the next month
- Convene and attend monthly meetings with Health Manager, Hospital staff including the incentive staff (Refugees) to exchange information and problem solving.
- Handle disciplinary issues amongst supervisees as they arise with support of the Health Manager and field HR focal person
- Participate in the recruitment process of all nursing positions, including participating in the interview process
Program activities:
- Ensure all hospital activities run smoothly and services are provided timely and efficiently
- Ensure quality of care is given to all patients accessing the hospital
- Ensure universal precautions and infection prevention guidelines are followed in service provision
- Organize and conduct regular in-service training and refresher courses for the nursing staff, both National and Incentive (Refugees) staff.
- Ensure all hospital departments have written Standard Operating Procedures that guide the day-to-day activities
- Ensure quality of care is maintained through sharing of updated guidelines and protocols in line with MOH, WHO, UNHCR guidelines
- Assist in ordering medical supplies on a trimester basis, in line with the projected consumption and available funding.
- Ensure all medical items for hospital used in the warehouse are released in a timely manner with proper documentation of the same
- Keep an inventory of all of the hospital assets and update this on a monthly basis. Share the same with the Health Manager and Supply Chain Manager monthly
- Attend and participate in weekly Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions at the hospital
- Attend and co-chair the daily morning hospital handover meetings, together with the medical officer incharge
- Co-ordinate referrals of in-patients in a timely manner, through the referral officer and Health Manager
- Identify hospital facility and equipment in need of repairs and submit to supply chain, with the assistance of the Health Manager
Reporting and Coordination:
- Review, authorize and keep accurate records of all requisitions, duty rosters and applications for leave
- Ensure that all HIS statistical reports are accurate and submitted on a weekly basis
- Evaluation of services through monitoring morbidity and mortality rates through monthly statistical reports.
- Forward hospital daily categorized patients bed occupancy to the Health Manager
- Keep the Health Manager informed of major issues at the hospital without fail
- Maintain an updated record and submit regular inventory reports of hospital equipment and furniture.
Others
Carry out other relevant duties as may be required or assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Professional qualification in Nursing (BSN degree)
- Registered with the Nursing Council
- At least 3 years professional experience preferably in a supervisory/in-charge position
- Postgraduate training in public health, health services management or any relevant field is an added advantage

- Good clinical knowledge and skills
- Ability to write clear, concise reports and well-developed communication skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, inter-personal, writing, and communication skills required
- Good computer skills (Complete MS Office package and any database management and analysis)

The Events & Communications Intern role involves supporting the planning and execution events, including assisting with event checklists, vendor coordination, venue bookings, and guest management. The individual will also support communications efforts by drafting content, coordinating with partners, and handling event inquiries. On-site, they will help with setup, live coverage, and material distribution. Post-event tasks include drafting summary reports, analyzing feedback, and archiving assets. Additionally, the role includes maintaining the event calendar, preparing briefing packs, and organizing related documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Event Planning & Coordination
- Assist in developing event checklists, timelines, and planning tools.
- Coordinate with vendors, including support for booking venues and arranging logistics.
- Help prepare guest lists and draft invitation letters/emails.
- Track RSVPs and compile attendee confirmations.
- Support the preparation, printing, and organization of event materials.
Communications & Promotion
- Support the communications team in drafting event-related content (e.g., announcements, social media posts).
- Coordinate with partners on joint promotional efforts.
- Manage event-related inquiries, including registration support and general questions.
On-Site Event Support
- Assist with event set-up and logistics on the ground.
- Support communications team with photography and real-time social media updates.
- Help manage distribution of materials and attendee support.
Post-Event Follow-Up
- Draft summary reports or event recaps.
- Assist in analyzing event feedback (e.g., from surveys or polls).
- Support the creation of post-event content and ensure all event assets are archived.
General Administrative Support
- Maintain an up-to-date event calendar.
- Assist in preparing briefing packs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Track, file, and organize all relevant documentation and communications related to each event.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma or recently completed degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
- Prior experience (internship, volunteer, or entry-level) in event planning, coordination, or administrative support is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, Adobe Creative, Canva
- Strong organizational skills and attention to details
- Strong writing and editing skills including experience in writing blogs, articles, reports, and communication materials.

The Protection Officer will play a key role in coordinating with relevant program staff and community stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways, provide psychosocial support, and ensure ethical data collection and reporting. The Officer will also participate in capacity-building activities, contribute to monitoring and evaluation efforts, and uphold accountability standards throughout program implementation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Contribute to the development and execution of detailed workplans and ensure timely delivery of assigned activities in line with project objectives and timelines.
- Participate in regular on-the-job mentoring and training sessions for staff, community-based facilitators, and partners on GBV, Child Protection, and core protection principles.
- Ensure that all protection activities adhere to best practices, including survivor-centered and child safeguarding approaches.
- Support the implementation of adolescent girls’ and women’s empowerment initiatives, including Women and Girls’ Safe Spaces (WGSS) and community-based protection mechanisms.
- Participate in field-level protection assessments and contribute to data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform program design and improvements.
- Promote the integration of protection principles across sectoral interventions by flagging protection risks and ensuring appropriate responses are in place.
- Assist in strengthening and maintaining referral pathways to ensure safe, confidential, and timely access to services for survivors, children, and other at-risk individuals.
- Support the establishment and implementation of strong monitoring systems to track protection activities, identify gaps, and contribute to program improvements.
Grants
- Contribute to the preparation and regular updating of detailed work plans, spending plans, and procurement plans in coordination with the Protection Manager and relevant departments.
- Actively participate in grant opening, review, and closing meetings to support effective project implementation and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Protection Manager, Program Coordinator, Protection Technical Coordinator, and Grants Unit by providing technical and operational input during proposal development and budget planning.
Capacity Building
- Support the planning and facilitation of training sessions for national and refugee staff on core protection and GBV principles, including Psychological First Aid (PFA), survivor-centered approaches, and referral pathways.
- Assist in the delivery of basic GBV-related trainings, such as core concepts, case management principles, and Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors (CCSAS), in coordination with technical leads.
- Collaborate with sector teams (Health, WASH, Nutrition, Protection, and livelihood) to promote understanding of safe and appropriate GBV referrals and survivor support across sectors.
- Provide day-to-day mentorship and support to case workers and protection volunteers to enhance their skills in case documentation, safe information sharing, and survivor engagement.
Coordination and networking
- Assist in developing and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, implementing partners, and other IRC teams—to promote coordinated, multi-sectoral protection responses.
- Represent the protection program in relevant sub-county and inter-agency coordination meetings as delegated by the Protection Manager, ensuring that protection concerns—especially related to GBV, Child Protection, and general protection—are effectively communicated and integrated into broader humanitarian interventions.
- Participate regularly in GBV and Protection sub-cluster meetings, contributing field-level updates and advocating for the protection needs of vulnerable groups, while ensuring follow-up actions are shared with the Protection Manager.
- Facilitate the exchange of tools, technical guidance, and good practices on GBV prevention and response.
- Participate in coordination meetings with protection partners, community representatives, and relevant working groups to enhance collaboration and ensure timely follow-up on action points.
- Work closely with GBV, Child Protection, and general protection teams to support activity implementation and ensure effective collaboration across protection sectors.
- Ensure adherence to IRC and donor policies, including safeguarding, protection principles, and ethical standards during the implementation of protection activities.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the Protection Manager to support the achievement of protection program objectives.
- Comply with IRC’s Code of Conduct, operational policies, and protection standards, including those related to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Social Work, Psychology, Gender Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
- Over 3 years of relevant experience in protection programming, with demonstrated engagement in one or more of the following areas Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention and response, Child Protection, Women’s Protection and Empowerment, or Protection Mainstreaming in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, including women, children, and marginalized groups, in crisis or displacement-affected settings.
- Strong understanding of international protection principles, inter-agency guidelines, and minimum standards, including but not limited to GBVIMS, Child Protection Information Management (CPIMS), and SPHERE standards.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Somali is a strong asset and considered advantageous.
