    Nutritionist

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Provide professional and high quality care by evaluating and assessing and advising on patients’ nutritional needs, diet restrictions and nutrition health plans in accordance with established protocols and standards. .

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct daily review of inpatients to evaluate and assess their nutrition status, screen them for nutritional risk and initiate appropriate intervention, Consulting with physicians and other caregivers to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of patients. 
    • Interpret physician diet orders and modify diet according to diet patterns and patient preferences. 
    • Instruct patients in diet principles and restrictions per physician diet orders and document pertinent clinical information. 
    • Plan and initiate medical nutrition therapy for patients if indicated by patient requirements and clinical protocols, and communicate the individual nutritional care plans to other health care providers as a member of a care team. 
    • Coordinate recipe development and standardization and develop menus for different vulnerable groups in the hospital, then monitor food service to ensure conformance to prescribed diets and patient’s nutritional needs, advising on substitutions if the patient is unable to eat the meal provided, per diet restrictions. 
    • Complete nutritional assessments on patients receiving tube feeding or parenteral nutrition and compute nutritional value of constituents when necessary. 
    • Educate and counsel patients and families on nutritional issues and maintain updated and necessary patient education materials and nutrition references. 
    • Advise food service managers and organizations on sanitation, safety procedures, menu development. 
    • Evaluate appropriateness of diet order for diagnosis and recommend diet order changes as indicated. 
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations. 
    • Ensure adequate knowledge of and compliance to all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially policies pertaining to the provision of medical services i.e. Admission & discharge, nurses’ reports, equipment and supplies, etc. 
    • Adhere to Government and respective professional standards of care and treatment of patients.
    • Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor. 

    Personal Specifications

    • BSc/ Higher Diploma in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics
    • Licensed by the Kenya Nutritionists and Dietitians Institute (KNDI)
    • 3+ years work experience in clinical nutrition.
    • Customer focus, results oriented, highly responsive, ethical and responsible
    • Strong interpersonal skills, team playing abilities, and communication skills.

    Bio Medical Technician

    Job Objective/Purpose

    To carry out installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, fault finding and repairs of all hospital equipment and machinery to ensure functionality and quality outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Carry out installation, maintenance, inspection & testing, fault finding and repairs of all biomedical equipment, providing bio-medical technical support to staff and contractors when required.
    • Plan, supervise and carry out improvements and alterations on equipment as required.
    • Undertake scheduled preventative maintenance for calibration equipment, biomedical and other medical equipment.
    • Conduct checks, updates and reports of critical equipment and critical supplies of oxygen, medical gases and vacuum as required.
    • Evaluate the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of medical and biomedical equipment, identifying any gaps and risks, and report to the Ops, COP & HM for implementation
    • Advice the Hospital Management on planning acquisition and use of medical equipment, and prepare of reports on equipment performance and cost analysis for renewal or renovation of equipment.
    • Liaise with and train medical staff on the use of medical equipment.
    • Ensure the unit is financially viable and demonstrate growth by managing costs and ensuring proper authorization and documentation is done.
    • Keep abreast of new developments and acquire new skills & knowledge in order to maintain a high level of service.
    • Record all sentinel incidents/events and report within 24 hours using the provided tools, Carrying out any audits, and implementing Quality Improvement Plans.
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting, and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, and Implementing audit recommendations.

    Care Manager

    Job Objective/Purpose

    Ensure efficient and cost effective patient services as the case manager in liaison with third party payers, and ensure accurate and complete billing of patient services in accordance with the Hospital’s policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conducts daily inpatient rounds of the specific schemebeneficiaries admitted in the hospital while ensuring timelyand appropriate admission, diagnosis, and care of patientsand advise the hospital and the corporate accordingly. 
    • Ensure only authentic pre-authorizations are issued forclients seeking medical services in collaboration with theclinical team. 
    • Draw monthly reports for specific corporate clients inclusiveof trends, analysis, market intelligence for improvedbusiness development. 
    • Liaise daily with other concerned units especially creditcontrol and clinical department to seek amicable solutions toproblems related to our billing and invoicing system. 
    • Respond to inquiries concerning billing activities frompatients, insurance companies, consultants or colleagues ina professional and efficient manner. 
    • Conduct a regular review of the case process to identify gapsto enhance profitability as well as efficiency andeffectiveness in the case management process. 
    • Enhance customer experience – establish and maintain goodrelationships with external and internal stakeholders such asunderwriter’s, brokers, agents, and policy holders. 
    • Conduct review of patients’ billing statements and alldischarged patients’ bills for accuracy and completenessprior to finalization of the invoices. 
    • Provide billing information by collecting, analyzing, andsummarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, andlate charges data and trends. 
    • Prepare billing statements for insurance companies,patients and other third parties. 
    • Participate in audits, service evaluations and processreviews to enhance the delivery of billing service tocustomers/stakeholders. 
    • Ensure that Avenue Healthcare corporate governancepolicies are adhered to, including preventing, detecting,and reporting any fraud or criminal activities, andImplementing audit recommendations. 
    • Ensure adequate knowledge of, and compliance to allAvenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems,especially policies pertaining to the provision of medicalservices and finance.

    Personal Specifications

    • Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) and a valid Nursing License from NCK
    • Finance, Accounting or Insurance Professional qualification
    • Minimum of 3 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role

    • Strong interpersonal skills, team playing abilities, and communication skills.
    • Highly responsive, ethical and responsible
