    Community Oral Health Officer

    Description

    Responsibilities

    • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment
    • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and tray setups for dental procedures
    • Conduct authorized dental procedures including cleaning and scaling
    • Maintain high-quality oral health by providing oral health education, screening, preventive and clinical dental services, and referrals.
    • Record medical and dental history of dental patients
    • Ensure availability of instruments, supplies, and equipment for the department
    • Diagnose and treat common dental conditions and refer ta o dentist for further review
    • Analyze patient’s dental x-rays, evaluate history and review dental charting
    • Undertake general treatment and care for teeth and tissue problems using specified equipment and tools and establish dental hygiene procedures
    • Perform authorized dental procedures including cleaning teeth, removing plagues,  replacing missing teeth, filling cavities, rebuilding broken teeth, and removing severely damaged teeth in a safe and sterile environment while providing quality dental experience during the procedure.

    Education

    • Diploma in community oral health from a recognized institution

    • Minimum of at least TWO YEARS of verifiable professional experience

    Medical Officer

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Monitoring and providing appropriate medical and surgical care to patients;
    • Managing clients for reproductive health both in the inpatient and outpatient;
    • Admitting patients requiring special care followed by investigations and treatment;
    • Examining and talking to patients to diagnose their medical conditions;
    • Making notes and preparing paperwork, both as a legal record of treatment and for the benefit of other healthcare professionals;
    • Coordinate and discuss planned care with the patient and other team professionals as appropriate;
    • Coordinating and managing emergency patients in the inpatient and outpatient and ensuring client referral is effective;
    • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with all staff and patients and ensure clients have a good customer experience.
    • Ensure that patients are kept fully informed of and understand all procedures and treatments to be undertaken. Informed Consent will be obtained from patients in accordance with Neema Hospital policy.
    • Provide advice to patients regarding healthy lifestyles and specific measures that may help the patient avoid a recurrence of ill health;
    • Assist in Continuous Medical Education for clinical staff in the facility;
    • Provide timely feedback to the team on any gaps identified in the comprehensive treatment cycle.
    • Any other duties as assigned.

    Education

    • Degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized university college with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
    • A valid active practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
    • A master’s degree will be an added advantage.

    More Details on Experience

    • Position holder should have at least 2 years of experience working as a licensed Medical Officer in a busy hospital.
    • Neonatal/Paediatric or reproductive health experience is an added advantage.

    Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Description

    Tasks include:

    1. Ensuring the system is updated at all times: the physical drugs should be what is in the system.
    2. Receiving prescriptions for medicinal products from medical doctors and other health professionals, checking patients’ medical histories, and ensuring proper dosage and methods of administration and drug compatibility before dispensing.
    3. Preparing or supervising the preparation and labeling of liquid medicines, ointments, powders, tablets, and other medications to fill prescriptions.
    4. Providing information and advice to prescribers and clients regarding drug interactions, incompatibility and contraindications, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.
    5. Collaborating with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the medicine therapy of individual patients and the effectiveness of particular drugs or therapies.
    6. Storing and preserving serums, insulin, and other controlled drugs subject to deterioration.
    7. Supervising and coordinating the work of pharmacy interns and pharmacy sales assistants.
    8. Conferring with the doctor or his assistance regarding the ordering, stocking, and pricing of the drugs.
    9. Keeping a clear account of drugs bought and drugs sold in the prescribed register.
    10. Ensure drugs prescribed from the hospital and from other hospitals are dispensed at the pharmacy.
    11. Ensure order and cleanliness at the pharmacy.
    12. Evaluate labels, packaging, and advertising of drug products.
    13. Developing information and risks of particular drugs and keeping updated hospital drug formulae.
    14. Perform other duties as assigned by the management

    Education

    • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a reputable institution.
    • Pharmacy & Poisons Board certification with a license available for use is highly desirable

    More Details on Experience

    • At least two years of experience post internship in a busy hospital or pharmacy
    • Competency in using Pharmacy Computer systems.
