    Product Specialist

    Job Description

    Role Purpose

    • Develop strategy and shaping product portfolio for a given set of crops/geography to meet customer segment needs.

    Key Responsibilities 

    • Developing product strategies for a given geography , collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product alignment with business goals.
    • Define local Target Product Profile, leading product decisions including market positioning and overall product life cycle management including portfolio shape .
    • Planning trials: define the standard varieties, trial seeds allocation and standard key traits for evaluation of the PLC 6 trials.
    • Inputs Seed Production needs of PLC 5 to 6 & 6 to 7 for the territory.
    • Consolidates CU or Territory Trial reports (PLC6) to support advancement decision and promotional activities.
    • Define and drive New Product Introduction (NPI) strategy and Plans with the Customer experience campaigns
    • Drive variety naming and activate registration / IP protecting including trials
    • Assess value traits & positioning , proposing pricing.
    • Provide strategic inputs to RCL by maintaining an in-depth understanding of the changing market trends, values value chain needs including competitors landscape.
    • Update customer needs and preferences, to support analysis of portfolio health, update of TPP and prioritize segments/target/market scope.
    • Gives technical support to key producers, leverages technical knowledge to the sales team to prepare sales arguments and after sales support


    Knowledge, Experience & Capabilities

    • Product Strategy Development: Experience in developing product strategies and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
    • Product Lifecycle Management: Knowledge of defining market positioning and life cycle management.
    • Data Consolidation and Analysis: Experience in consolidating Trial reports to support advancement decisions and developing promotional activities.
    • New Product Introduction Strategy: Ability to define and drive NPI strategy including customer experience campaigns.
    • Market Analysis and Pricing: Experience in assessing value traits, market positioning, and proposing pricing strategies based on market trends and competitor analysis.
    • Customer Needs Analysis: Ability to update customer needs and preferences, support portfolio health analysis, and update Target Product Profiles.


    • Ability to conduct market research and analyze customer needs and preferences to identify opportunities for product development and portfolio expansion.
    • Strategic thinking: The ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans for product portfolio development that align with business goals and customer needs.
    • Communication skills: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and engineering, to ensure that product development aligns with customer needs and business objectives.
    • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing market conditions and customer needs to ensure that the product portfolio remains relevant and competitive.

    Key Account Manager - Export Vegetables & Biologicals- East Africa

    Job Description

    Role Purpose

    • To achieve Export Vegs segment & Biologicals sales targets by managing assigned accounts, in accordance with the BA strategy and objectives
    • To strongly contribute to the development of a Biologicals Marketing strategy in Kenya, defining potential for Syngenta Bio products & Valagro portfolio and timeline to launch the Bio portfolio.
    • To contribute to the definition of the new Syngenta Biologicals Operating model, in view of the integration of Valagro (especially GTM & Channel strategy).
    • To implement the agreed strategy, monitoring effectiveness and adjusting strategy as required.
    • To contribute to the development of the overall strategy as a leader of the Kenyan sales organization.
    • Work closely with other functions – Marketing, Commercial Ops, CPD, Finance, to ensure perfect alignment in the business delivery.



    • To assume responsibility for realizing the required growth of the Export Vegs segment & Biologicals business in Kenya, with due  consideration/assessment/management of all (financial) risks involved.
    • To develop Key Account plans, which details activities to follow during the year & to regularly update it.
    • To implement sales & budget plans and ensure that targeted market share is achieved in your segment. 
    • To work hands-in hands with Commercial Operations & Marketing teams on the definition of our Biologicals marketing strategy and the future Syngenta Biologicals Operating model.
    • To develop a deep biologicals expertise and support the rest of the Kenya team on Biologicals when required (be the local Biologicals sales champion).
    • To collaborate with Commercial Operations team on customers’ targeting within your segment and sales tracking.
    • To fully understand key competitor offers & adjust strategy accordingly
    • To manage distributors’ relationships, gaining a deeper understanding of their business and needs to develop customized value offers that build a successful & sustainable business partnership.
    • To maintain accurate records on SFDC of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, and follow-up activities within the assigned territory.
    • Works in compliance with commercial policy of the country, HSE requirements, local legislation and competition law.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    Critical Experience and Knowledge

    • Extensive knowledge of the Eastern Africa agricultural sales environment, sales techniques and approaches.
    • Strong people management and leadership skills.
    • Language skills - must have excellent language skills of Swahili and English.
    • Key sales management skills; strong understanding of customer needs, structure and business drivers.
    • Understanding of the agricultural competitive environment.
    • Education level of undergraduate in BSc. Agriculture as a minimum.
