Brief Description

Reporting to the Team Lead Infrastructure Operations & Security Remediations, the position holder shall implement and support Core IT infrastructure including the Cloud computing, data centers, operating systems, servers, storage, SAN, backups, collocation, and collaboration systems such as email and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Working in an agile environment and utilizing relevant tools such as Jira & Confluence.
• Solid understanding of AWS Cloud
• Maintaining Cloud OPEX & related CAPEX within Budget
• Administration, configuration and troubleshooting of SAN/NAS storage systems and SAN directors. This includes storage LUN provisioning and Zoning.
• Analysis of server/storage hardware and operating system software. This includes implementation of tactical service improvements, upgrades and patching.
• Collaborating with the team and various stakeholders to identify technical problems, design solutions for them and help implement where required. This involves collaborating with both technical and non-technical staff
• Operations of backup tools, respective hardware and software assurance and testing of disk and data recovery. In case of issues offer prompt restoration of lost data for the business.
• Remediation of Security, Compliance and Audit Issues within the Cloud & Core Infrastructure
• Technical support for assigned company initiatives and projects. Participation in feasibility studies and testing for new IT infrastructure components.
• Maintenance of systems documentation and procedures.

Qualifications

Functional & Technical/ Skills:

• Technical design assessment and evaluation, risk-based Quality Assurance in web-scale environments
•  University Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in infrastructure support and/or planning in an environment with mixed VMware and Redhat virtualization.
• 5+ Years’ Experience as Systems administrator, Network administrator or analyst in a multifaceted business environment with integrated/mixed Windows, UNIX/Linux server environment 
• System Administration Techniques – understanding OS Performance, Microsoft and UNIX/Linux enterprise hardware and storage.
• Experience in enterprise SAN/NAS storage and SAN Directors management.
• Azure, AWS, and GCP certifications preferred
• Attention to details and analytical thinking
• Extensive knowledge of enterprise Linux Server Operating Systems such as RHEL/ CentOS, Ubuntu.
• Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication and leadership skills

Brief Description

Reporting to the Head, Digital Engineering, the position holder will be responsible for owning, leading, and driving quality engineering practices across all of Safaricom software engineering and digital experience delivery teams as well as providing expert knowledge of test strategy / frameworks and automation of end-to-end test design, execution, and validation, and deficiency identification and remediation, to enable target business capabilities / user journeys. Reporting to the Consumer IT Lead, the position holder shall provide leadership in driving delivery of Consumer Business Unit projects using Business Doman and IT knowledge. Leading a team of Architects and Business Analysts, as well as virtual IT delivery teams to implement Core Product (Voice, Data and SMS) propositions campaign and promotions. Break down complex requirements into simple trackable tasks. Be committed to high quality and delivery on time.

Responsibilities

Business Delivery:

• Responsible for all Domain business projects by resourcing and leading virtual teams across IT
• Responsible for delivering 95% of the projects on time
• Responsible for ensuring project stability within max 48 hours
• Ensure agile is implemented in at least 50% of the projects
• Maintain an accurate registry of all business projects  with various statuses and ensure business teams are appraised at all times

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical/Professional qualifications:

• Degree in Science/computer science/Engineering/Business related.
• Certification in Business Analysis & Agile Project Management will be an added advantage
• Strong business acumen and mindset – with bias to Consumer and Sales domains
• 5+ years of software development experience in a busy IT development environment, 2 years of which must include experience in Business Analysis and Systems design.

Brief Description

Reporting to the Head of Quality Engineering, the position holder will oversee and perform Automated testing on all applications from the earliest opportunity and with precision before any application is deployed to production.  Communicating all test issues effectively to the QA manager. Managing the daily workload of a Tester and giving direction on projects. Participate in the test automation tool selection and adoption process; Develop and execute automated test suites using COTS and custom tools; Integrate test suites into the test management system and custom test harnessed. Perform code reviews for junior SDETs.

 Responsibilities

Technical:

• Produce & manage level test plans, estimate effort and resource test plans
• Monitor changes to scope during the development cycle and re-evaluate plans and resource accordingly
• Manage expectations of when testing activities will be complete mitigating risks to key milestones
• Liaise with the relevant departments to ensure key infrastructure (environments, interfaces & access) is set-up to enable all required testing activities
• Manage the UAT process by supporting clients to establish key scenarios to test their business processes to maximize benefit of the UAT process ensuring full acceptance and integration of the software solution
• Assign work to QA Engineers and manage successful completion of work to set deadlines
• Manage processes and procedures locally within the test team and with external teams across the SDLC to drive and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and first-time pass rate
• Measure, develop and optimize quality of team outputs and performance.
• Build test scripts from various sources including functional specifications, technical specifications and sessions with developers and designers
• Review requirements, specifications, user documentation, help files, and other project documentation to assure quality of the products and tests to be developed; i.e., perform manual static testing.
• Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation; e.g., data-driven testing.
• Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute automated test suites for various Software Cafeteria products; i.e., perform automated dynamic testing.
• Execute automated tests and validate the results.
• Work with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects.
• Work with the Development team to create and maintain an automated nightly build verification (“smoke”) test.
• Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test objects developed and test environments used.
• To facilitate in-house performance testing ensuring that all key infrastructure, data requirements are met as well as establishing the best tools for the job
• Identify key components of the system that are suitable for automation and implement approach to deliver benefits through automation

Results Tracking and Reporting:

• Monitor defects raised by the team and challenge their prioritization supporting to resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS

Technical/Professional qualifications:

• ISTQB Foundation Level Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Related field Experience
• Relevant work experience in development and/or testing role.
• Understanding of agile software development Understanding of web service integration (e.g.: REST and SOAP XML).
• Experience with Cloud Technology (e.g.: AWS , GCP, Azure) Experience with NoSQL such as MongoDB Experience with SQL/ Relational Database (eg:PostgreSQL), automation, CI/CD, DevOps, testing, JavaScript, selenium, Jenkins, Agile software, cloud, NoSQL Familiarity with software packing tools (.exe, .deb, .rpm, Docker…)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good development/scripting skills in common languages like JAVA, Kotlin, Python, Ruby etc.
• Database skills, mainly in MySQL
• Good understanding of object-oriented programming, J2EE architecture, .NET, etc.
• Knowledge of automated testing tools, like LoadRunner, HP ALM 11, Rational Robot, Selenium, Appium etc.
• Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple, diverse projects simultaneously
• Experienced in Manual Testing at levels of Unit & System covering Functional tests
• Have strong SQL skills and be able to confidently test batch processes
