Job Purpose:

 The overall purpose of this job is to utilize the specialist general surgical expertise knowledge and techniques to diagnose and treat patients.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Strategy, policy and processes implementation -Providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of effective General Surgery clinical policies and procedures.
• Quality Assurance- Provides guidance and participates in the development and implementation of quality assessment plans and ensuring continuous improvement of the General Surgery department services. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained.
• Carry out patient assessment, treatment and stabilization and other specialized procedures in order to provide curative services in line with established protocols and promote patient centricity including providing clinical support during emergencies including resuscitation, admission, discharge or referral to the appropriate consultants and units.
• Contribute to the departmental clinical quality assurance system, including regular clinical audit, review of patient care (length of patient stay, mortality and morbidity reviews, audit, regular clinical meetings) to ensure quality to services provided to patients.
• Lead in clinical audit and proactive risk management and facilitate production of all data/information required for same in accordance with regulatory, statutory and corporate policies and procedures
• Research and Development- Actively involved in a wide range of research and development initiative areas and create awareness of the hospital as having research programs that are at the forefront of science in patient care.
• Oversight of quality and patient safety by assisting in planning and setting priorities for General Surgery department through quality improvement and patient safety activities and reviewing clinical related patient complaints and ensure a satisfactory resolution thereof with proper corrective and preventive action
• Work with the established consultants to ensure equitable provision of General Surgery services across the whole of the hospital. This will include collaborative working, mutual cover for leave, and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance
• Learning and Development – Support learning and development initiatives by identity skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for the medical and nursing staff. Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the facility.

 Qualifications

Education

• Master of Surgery in General Surgery.
• Bachelor Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

.Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position.

Job Purpose:

 The overall purpose of this role is to carry out dental examinations and related procedures to the hospital’s patients in line with established protocols the hospital’s patient care objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out patients’ dental examinations using dental instruments and other diagnostic equipment to evaluate the condition of patients and advise on appropriate treatment plan;
• Carry out dental procedures including surgical, restoration, restorative as relates to the diagnosis in order to restore patients’ dental health;
• Conduct regular reviews for continuing patients in order to monitor their progress;
• Provide advice to patients on preventive dental care, causes and treatment of dental problems and oral health care;
• Provide advice on the appropriate design and specifications of equipment for procurement by the Hospital in order to ensure the equipment is fit for purpose;
• Ensure proper use of dental materials and equipment and monitor the functionality of the equipment to ensure seamless provision of dental services;
• Document and record all processes for ease of reference and decision making purposes;
• Book patients and attend to emergency patients in the clinic; and
• Any other responsibilities that may be assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Surgery from a recognized institution.

  Job Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience.

Membership

• Must be registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council and hold a valid practicing license.
