    Dean of Students

    JOB REF: ANU/SW/04/01/25

    Job Purpose

    • Responsible for policy formulation, development, and implementation in all areas that relate to students’ non-academic affairs including co-curricular activities, medicare, catering, counselling services accommodation, mentorship, and international students’ affairs.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Develop, review and implement the budget of the student welfare department.
    • Guide the strategic and operational directions of the department.
    • Ensure the department operates in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
    • Oversee students’ mentorship and counselling.
    • Ensure students have access to quality non-academic services.
    • Review service provision and recommend areas of improvement. Receive student feedback on service delivery and develop plan of action for continuous improvement.
    • Investigate all the discipline cases reported.
    • Adjudicate and take action against any level 0-2 cases. Process level 3 cases for consideration by the University disciplinary committee. Implement the decisions of the disciplinary committee.
    • Handle students’ disputes.
    • Interpret the provisions of the handbook and lead its review as scheduled.
    • Preside over the students’ election. Establish the vetting panel, electoral commission and ensure smooth process.
    • Provide mechanism to consider electoral disputes and student leadership matters.
    • Train student leaders and supervise their operations and budget and activities.
    • Develop, review and implement students’ bereavement policy.
    • Coordinate and manage the affairs of the international students.

    Academic and Professional Requirements:

    • PhD/ Master’s degree in a relevant field

    • For Master’s degree holders: Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial position
    • Relevant professional qualification
    • Member of a relevant professional body.
