    Cashier, Main Pharmacy

    Responsibilities:

    • Collect payments and issue receipts and invoices to internal and external customers so as to properly account for revenue generated.
    • Verify every receipt/invoice issued against a valid prescription.
    • Verify patients with photo identification.
    • Attach all necessary photocopies of prescriptions to the related invoice.
    • Collect and keep change available at all times to carry out cash transactions.
    • Store cash, cheques and vouchers securely as per department guidelines.
    • Carry out banking of collections in a timely manner.
    • Process smart cards as per policy and procedure.
    • Ensure prescription exemptions from the different corporate /insurances are verified before a transaction is carried out.
    • File and Store all prescriptions sequentially and securely.
    • File and update all finance related documents so as to maintain accurate records.
    • Activate accounts for corporate patients and ensuring there is a duly signed claim form where applicable.
    • Use all stationery in an efficient and controlled manner and avoid wastage.
    • Initiate the manual procedure of logging transactions immediately the computer system goes down.
    • Attend to customer queries promptly and courteously.
    • Record all verbal complaints.
    • Complete any other tasks as assigned by the department supervisor or manager.

     Requirements:

    • KATC II or Diploma in Business Administration or an equivalent is desirable
    • KCSE grade of C+
    • Basic computer literacy(Ms Excel, Ms Word)
    • 2 years working experience in a busy cash office
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Must be a good team player.
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Good communication skills, both written and oral
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Good customer service and Problem solving skills
    • Attention to detail and highly organized.
    • High level of integrity.

    Counsellor

    Job Purpose

    • To provide psychological support and therapeutical interventions to clients in areas related to the field of counselling & clinical psychology.  This is in line with the overall institutional aims of providing quality care with compassion and within an ethical framework.
    • Identify and diagnose psychological, emotional and behavioral issues
    • Develop and implement treatment plans and therapeutic processes
    • Help clients explore and identify goals and formulate action plans to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development
    • Monitor client progress through regular follow-up sessions

    Key responsibilities:

    • Provide psychological Support to clients experiencing “life-issues such as trauma, end-of-life, illness, etc.
    • Counselling for trauma/ grief and loss, acute and chronic illness, and mental health issues
    • Support the employee assisted program (EAP) of the department of human resources.
    • Provide staff with psychological support to manage stress, enhance relationships, manage conflicts thereby enhancing productivity
    • Staff training and development
    • Conduct training activities within departments that contribute towards meeting the institutional & departmental goals

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills required:

    • Registration with the Ministry of Health in Kenya with a valid Practice License
    • A master’s degree in counselling/clinical psychology
    • Theoretical education in counselling (e.g. Undergraduate in Counselling)
    • Diploma or above in counselling/nursing in a medical context (e.g. Medical health counselling)
    • Additional training in fields that can complement the role of counselling (e.g. Trauma, chronic illness, death & dying)
    • Minimum 2 years work experience
    • Experience in a medical setting
    • Relevant work experience equivalent to the expected workload
    • Knowledge of human emotional social and psychological challenges
    • Non-partisan in RELIGIOUS, CULTURAL AND TRADITIONAL PRACTICES
    • High ethical and moral principles -beyond reproach and with a Professional approach
    • Capable of being a role model in the organization and in society
    • Team player and willing to learn

    Digital Scholarship Assistant, Library Department

    Job Summary

    The job holder will support the digital scholarship centre by providing digital media services and produce a wide range of multimedia products appropriate to the faculty, students and staff of AKU; and to effectively support the teaching, learning and research objectives of the university.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide photography and videography services for AKU Library events and publications.
    • Design graphics for AKU publications, newsletters, and promotional materials.
    • Upload metadata and collate staff publications data for the institutional repository.
    • Support faculty and students in blended learning and other learning technologies.
    • Develop LibGuides and online courses, working with faculty and subject matter experts to turn course content into engaging digital learning materials such as videos, readings, quizzes, and interactive activities.
    • Provide ICT-related support to users and assist with administrative duties for the Library and Digital Scholarship Centre Office as required.
    • Service and maintain the Digital Scholarship Centre (DSC) equipment, ensuring it is regularly updated and fully operational.
    • Support the Library department in offering circulation and customer services, including the lending and return of library resources such as laptops and tablets.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Science, Multimedia Technology, or a related field.
    • At least two (2) years' relevant experience, preferably in an academic or library setting.
    • Demonstrated skills in photography, videography, and graphic design software
    • Basic ICT troubleshooting and equipment maintenance skills.
    • Experience developing LibGuides or similar research/learning guides is an added advantage.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and customer-service skills.
    • Proficiency in both macOS and Windows operating systems.
