Description
The Lead Civil Engineer will take ownership of all civil works for the Nakuru 35MW Menengai Geothermal Power Plant Project. This includes managing the quality and execution of civil subcontractor work, ensuring full compliance with the Issued Designs, and effectively managing site resources while enforcing the QHSE plan. The Lead Civil Engineer must have a deep understanding of the Issued drawings, design, Employer Requirements ( ER), bar bending schedule ( BBS), BS & EN Standards, collaborate closely with clients and consultants, attend scheduled meetings, and provide regular reports to the Construction Manager and Project Manager. Additionally, the Lead Civil Engineer will coordinate daily with the Engineering team, QA/QC Team of project partners and clients, and internal engineering teams to ensure alignment and smooth integration of all disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and piping. The role also requires anticipating potential project risks—such as safety issues, quality concerns, project delays, technical constraints, subcontractors and service providers and escalating these risks to the Construction Manager while proposing viable solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Work in close collaboration with the CSI Construction Manager and Project Manager, Civil Engineers on site, and any other stakeholder (and client, etc.). Coordinate with all departments while overseeing all activities, planning, resources, etc.
- Planning, preparation and submission of detailed site schedule in coordination with clients, estimating Civil work quantities and materials.
- Maintain records on jobs and assignment to appropriate personnel.
- Assist in coordinating job assignments with the other trades, e.g., carpenters, masons, steel fixers, electricians and plumbers etc.
- Develop civil material and manpower forecasts while enforcing the requirement on civil contractor who needs to mobilise the require resources, delivery the required material, etc. in due time to prevent any idle time on site activities.
- Assist with HSE and QA-QC enforcement and reporting.
- Lead Civil Engineer to familiarize himself with all aspects of the project, from structural drawings to budgets to deadlines.
- He makes sure all parties are doing what they are supposed to do, and he carries out visual inspections of work completed.
- Submission of daily and weekly reports as required.
- Attending any internal/ client/ external meetings when required.
- Besides being talented, Lead Civil Engineer must possess leadership skills.
- Be outstanding organizers capable of working within budget and time constraints.
- Attending to all details.
- Attended daily Pre-Shift Safety Briefings prior to commencement of work.
- Enforce project safety rules
- Implement safe methods of work as prescribed in method statements and procedures.
- Supervise Civil assignments ensuring compliance to the HSE requirements and up to set standards of quality and workmanship.
- Determine fitness for work of workers prior commencement of work.
- Prepares and check fitness of work of project personnel assigned under him/her, equipment, materials and safety equipment required for the day's activity.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager/ Construction Manager.
- Procurement planning for the civil work requirement and reporting to the construction manager at the appropriate time.
- To provide weekly and monthly concrete, rebars and other civil material requirements.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent.
- Work experience: 6 years minimum
- Computer skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel and Word
- Language: Fluent in written and spoken English.

Description
The Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities of a staff of foremen and journeymen of several different trades. Day-to-day operations of the organizational unit are largely carried on through immediate staff foremen, who are charged with responsibility for specific areas of operation and with whom the supervisor confers in coordinating the organization’s activities.
He shall oversee the construction activities that take place on the worksite, supervising the contractors and staff while maintaining a safe work environment.
Key responsibilities
Operational Management
- Expertise in industrial automation systems (PLC, DCS) and control systems.
- Familiarity with various instrumentation technologies such as pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analytical sensors.
- Perform daily plans for C&I works.
- Create plans according to procedures and regulations, ensuring safety and communicating plans to the team.
- Monitor staff performance and accomplish project goals by defining the scope and resources required.
- Allocate resources, materials, and staff.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing safety codes.
- Develop a suitable work breakdown structure for projects in conjunction with project management.

The Planning Engineer ensures the production of high-quality, accurate planning documents and reports, which serve as critical tools for project oversight, budget management, and strategic planning. This position collaborates closely with project teams to monitor progress, manage delays, and establish corrective actions, supporting the achievement of project goals and client satisfaction.
Key responsibilities
Operational Management
- Implementation and management of progress measurement systems and reporting
- Report on project progress as required
- Develop Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for projects in collaboration with Project Management
- Prepare and maintain project-specific WBS, including baseline management and progress updates
- Prepare project forecasts/lookahead schedules based on construction knowledge
- Analyze delays in site works and prepare mitigation plans
- Review overall project status with Project Management and recommend corrective actions
- Review sub-contractors’ interim payment applications
- Support development of project budgets and financial reports
- Contribute to accurate schedule and budget documentation for proposals and tenders
- Develop and maintain a procurement schedule aligned with project schedules in collaboration with the Procurement team
