    Health Information Systems Officer/Records

    Key Responsibilities.

    • Plan and design practices, processes and procedures that allow for effective management of people, resources and processes to optimize overall organizational performance.
    • Assessing and controlling the center’s exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.
    • Develop new, better or significantly different ideas, methods, solutions or initiatives that result in improvement of the settlement’s performance and meeting objectives, results and organization’s commitments.
    • Determine data to be collected based on program and organizational needs.
    • Perform analysis to determine adequacy of data collection and evaluation processes.
    • Organize, implement and enforce data management procedures.
    • Train employees on proper data management tools and equipment.
    • Establish data quality standards and ensures they are met.
    • Manage contracts with all software vendors associated with data collection and management.
    • Ensure that software functions properly at all times and data management system is operating correctly.
    • Troubleshoot for solutions in all data-related problem areas.
    • Make sure all software updates are installed and implemented and staffs are trained on proper application.
    • Ensure data management system is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations.
    • Evaluate data management system to improve operational procedures.
    • Prepare regular reports for various departments and levels in the organization.
    • Ensure KRCS reports to national and county reporting systems
    • Develop special reports upon request.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience   

    • Diploma in Health Information Systems or related field
    • 2 Years’ experience in IDSR, routine and non-routine data management of community based programs.
    • Extensive knowledge and competency in using the updated KHIS tools, uploading the data and generating reports.
    • Demonstrable ability to undertake programming and/or analysis in one or more of: SPSS, STATA, MySQL, share point technologies

    Technical and other Competences

    • Extensive knowledge of data management soft wares.
    • Possesses excellent mathematical abilities and organizational skills.
    • Exhibit superior presentation skills and ability to explain complex processes to others.
    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and pays close attention to detail.
    • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and well as superior written and verbal communication skills.
    • Demonstrates the ability to be self-motivated and accomplish job tasks with little to no supervision.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, email and utilization of the internet.

    Sonographer

    Key Responsibilities.

    • To undertake initial patient evaluation, provide diagnostic radiographs, perform ultrasound and Doppler examinations by capturing images of diagnostic value.
    • Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients and answering any questions they may have.
    • Maintaining the ultrasound equipment and maintaining the room in which the procedure takes place.
    • Performing the ultrasound ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed and ensuring the images are of best quality.
    • Maintaining patient’s records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure if necessary.
    • Ensure radiation safety measures and protection are observed to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety to patient’s staff and self.
    • Ensure scheduled maintenance, and calibration of medical equipment’s are in place and followed.
    • Ensure accurate documentation and care of patients’ records.
    • Liaising with doctors and other medical staff to clarify ambiguous radiology requests to prevent service anomalies;
    • Review Patient Reports to ensure that they are accurate before sign off; and documenting and reporting all the faults on the machines to recommended authorities.
    • Perform any other duties within the professional circuit as may be assigned from time

     Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • Diploma in Medical imaging sciences
    • Higher Diploma in Ultrasound.
    • Registered with The Kenya Radiation Protection Board.
    • 2 years work experience in Radiology/Ultrasound in a busy hospital.

    Nursing Officer

    Key Responsibilities.

    • The Nursing Officers shall work in specific ward/clinic assigned to and would therefore work as both supervisor and team leader of the refugee staff.
    • Prepare for and assist the doctors during the rounds whenever required.
    • Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient’s charts.
    • Refer to the doctor in charge or to the doctor/CO on call relevant information such as patient’s status and laboratory results, which would assist in proper clinical management.
    • Arrange and submit weekly clinic/ward work schedule and plan daily duties and responsibilities for each refugee staff.
    • Participate in camp health surveys/campaigns.
    • Conduct regular training session for refugee staff on basic nursing care/management of various ward/clinic cases and charting.
    • Give health education to patients and clients
    • Compile and submit monthly reports.
    • Monitor and supervise proper usage of supplies.
    • Maintain equipment in good condition and submit regular inventory report of the same.
    • Maintain drug registers and drug consumption within the ward level.
    • Ensure that all admissions, discharges, transfers and deaths are properly recorded as they occur.
    • Taking and recording of vital signs and proper documentation of all nursing procedures
    • Ensure the clinic/ward is cleaned to the expected standards.
    • Perform coverage and be on-call as required.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience   

    • Over two (2) years’ experience.
    • Registered Nurse with a Diploma in Nursing from KMTC or another recognized Nurse-training institute.
    • Valid and current registration License by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
