Duties and Responsibilities: -
- Teach and assess courses in MBChB and post graduate programs;
- Supervise postgraduate students;
- Initiate, promote and participate in research projects;
- Attend and actively participate in seminars, workshops and conference in relevant fields;
- Actively participate in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of curricula in the department;
- Attend and actively participate in departmental and School Board meetings and other activities;
- Promote innovative ways of teaching and delivery of pathology to learners;
- Conduct community service and initiate linkages;
- Any other official duties that may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements for appointment: -
- An MBChB degree and MMed in Human Pathology or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized University. (A PhD. will be an added advantage); The Master’s degree shall have an equivalent in Fellowship Training recognized by the Medical Council of Kenya;
- At least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or in research or in industry;
- Must be registered to the relevant professional body and have a current valid Practising license (where applicable);
- Must have demonstrable proficiency in computer applications;

Purpose: Offering general diagnostic or other laboratory services in a teaching medical laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities: -
The officer will be responsible for: -
- Organizing, directing, coordinating, administering teaching and research activities in the laboratory/workshop;
- Designing laboratory/workshop safety procedures for staff and students;
- Development of alternative laboratory/workshop methods and techniques in order to cope with changing technology;
- Coordinating the production of Laboratory Manuals by members of staff in the department;
- Compiling of laboratory/workshop equipment and supplies;
- Guiding undergraduate and postgraduate practicals and ensuring student participation;
- Supervision of technical staff in the department;
- Planning, designing and developing teaching and research activities in liaison with Head of Department;
- Providing professional support to improve and manage the consultancy services undertaken in the laboratories/workshops;
- Identifying training needs for technical staff in liaison with Head of Department;
- Designing and structuring training sessions in laboratory/workshop safety to ensure good laboratory practice;
- Performing inspection of all laboratories/workshops to ensure that they conform to acceptable standards;
- Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time;
Requirements for appointment: -
- Master’s degree in relevant discipline or its equivalent from a recognized university;
- Demonstrable information communication technology skills in relevant packages from a recognized institution;
- Ten (10) years relevant laboratory working experience three (3) of which must have been at the position of Senior Technician or a comparable position;
- Licensed or licensable by the relevant professional body;
- Demonstrated outstanding ability in handling laboratory services.

- Must have demonstrable proficiency in computer applications.

Employment for the above mentioned positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms except for Tutorial Fellow. The appointed candidates will be remunerated as per the Inter Public University Councils Consultative Forum(IPUCCF) and CBA 2017-2021 approved salary rates.
