    Company Nurse

    Job Purpose

    Provide effective clinical services to the Mpala staff.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Undertake the observation, monitoring and assessing of patients conditions as well as planning and implementing the care needed.
    2. Ensure maintenance of patients records;
    3. Undertake the observation, monitoring and assessing of patients conditions as well as planning and implementing the care needed.
    4. Oversee triaging and recording patients vital signs assess their medical conditions and records the findings.
    5. Provide optimal care to patients using available resources
    6. Utilize and maintain clinic equipment and instruments as appropriate.
    7. Initiate emergency, safety practices and fire safety measures as appropriate.
    8. Maintain adequate stocks of drug in the clinic as per approved procedures
    9. Requisition required drugs and monitoring the consumption.
    10. Prepare timely and accurate reports as required.
    11. Participate in drawing the clinic budget.
    12. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    1. Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing.
    2. Registration certificate issued by Nursing council of Kenya.
    3. Valid practising license from Nursing Council of Kenya.
    4. 3 years experience required.
    5. Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player;
    6. Knowledge of international standards of providing nursing care.
    7. Good listening and communication skills;

    Monitoring and surveillance Officer

    Purpose of the job

    To lead project activities relating to monitoring and surveillance, of rabies cases (in people and domestic dogs) and vaccine coverage to inform vaccination planning. Surveillance for incidents of wildlife disease and poisoning in wild carnivores, and monitoring to inform management of human-carnivore conflict

    Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

    • Oversee the monitoring of rabies cases in people and domestic dogs, including liaison with clinics, hospitals, and communities, and regular compilation of the resulting data.
    • Lead the evaluations of vaccine coverage in domestic dogs, to inform ongoing vaccination efforts.
    • Manage the collection of data on livestock predation by Community Officers and others, including ongoing case-control studies of livestock husbandry to inform local outreach efforts.
    • Help to manage the programme of surveillance for incidents of poisoning and wildlife disease (in partnership with Smithsonian, Lion Landscapes, and others), including assistance with developing surveillance protocols, training rangers, facilitating responses to reported cases, and collating data.
    • Assisting where needed with wild dog monitoring.
    • Contribute to analysis and reporting of project data.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Degree in social sciences, Environment, Community Development, Monitoring and Evaluation.
    • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation.
    • Report writing is essential.
    • Certification in Monitoring & Evaluation will be an added advantage.
    • Flexibility to work with the conservancy staff in harsh environments in wild dog monitoring.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Atleast 3 years of field experience
    • Prove of leadership will be an added advantage.

    Procurement and Supply Chain Officer

    Job Purpose

    Participate in effective management of the procurement process of Mpala’s requirements through internal need consolidation, supplier identification, procurement and supply chain process management and quality assurance in line with the Mpala’s mission.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Participate in the design, review and oversee the implementation of procurement policies and procedures guided by Mpala’s policies.
    2. Design the bid evaluation process and manage the procurement needs for commodities and services required by user departments, including the approval of quotations, purchase orders, and proposals in accordance with Mpala procurement policy and procedures.
    3. Facilitate business relationships by facilitating the preparation of contracts with vendors, maintaining contracts and monitoring contracts.
    4. Prepare quotations, tenders, proposals process purchase orders and documents in accordance with Mpala procurement policies and procedures;
    5. Carry out the purchasing process from sourcing to delivery and developing and maintaining an up-to-date supplier’s database;
    6. Participate in the analysis of purchase requests from the user departments, determining the appropriate method of procurement tendering/requesting for proposals and providing assistance to user departments, when required, in the preparation of specifications;
    7. Ensure that all purchases meet the required standards and specifications.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field from a recognized University
    2. A valid KISM certificate.
    3. CIPS will be an added advantage;
    4. 3 years of experience in procurement and or supply chain management
    5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
    7. Good networking skills.
    8. A strategic thinker, always ready to adapt and learn with high levels of integrity, innovation, accountability and honesty with good negotiation skills.
    9. Technology savvy with proficiency in the use of MS Office software packages.

    Outreach Officer for the Wild Dog Project

    Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

    • Develop or oversee the development of outreach materials working with technical advisors project partners and others to ensure that messages are based on the best available evidence and working with community officers to ensure they are locally appropriate.
    • Manage relations with the community outreach arts theatre group contributing to the development and refinement of the participatory play and overseeing the production of video clips for local sharing.
    • Liaise with project partners to ensure that key messages are being communicated accurately and effectively by everyone involved in the project.
    • Liaise with the monitoring officer and all other team members to ensure that messaging draws on the latest evidence and experience from the project.
    • Work with Mpala management and the MpalaLive! team to embed messages about the project into Mpala communications
    • Liaise with journalists and film-makers locally, nationally and internationally to promote the project’s messages.
    • Develop and expand the project’s digital presence through local WhatsApp groups, social media, and other appropriate platforms.

    Required Qualifications:
