Job Purpose Statement
Reporting to the Group Director Risk and Controls (R&C), the purpose of the role is to lead the Risk and Controls reporting and transformation agenda. The position will be a key part of the Risk and Controls Division Management team, and provide leadership in the departments reporting, communication and transformation agenda.
The role will work closely with the Group Head of ERM, Group Head of Internal Audit and the Group Head of Risk & Controls Assurance as well as liaise with relevant business and enablement functions to ensure the reporting, transformation and infrastructure agenda is implemented.
Ideal Job Specifications
Preferred candidates will have strong planning, communicating, and presenting skills. A Bachelor of Business, Journalism, Finance, or similar discipline is required, with postgraduate degrees such as an MBA or JD a plus. Strong intellectual curiosity, judgment, and personal integrity are also key position traits. Ability to work with ambiguity and independently, translate and communicate complex issues simply and clearly.
Academic:

Job Purpose Statement
This role is crucial for generating, communicating, and implementing credit portfolio management insights to ensure the quality and performance of the loan book across all customer segments of the Group/Bank, including Corporate Banking, SME/Business Banking, and Personal Banking. The role provides direct portfolio oversight for all countries in which the Group operates. Key responsibilities include:
- Generating and analyzing credit portfolio insights to ensure compliance with the Credit Policy, Banking Act, and CBK's prudential guidelines, and to identify and mitigate credit risks early.
- Monitoring and assessing the quality of the loan book, tracking asset quality metrics, and implementing necessary improvements.
- Maintaining a robust risk control environment and ensuring high-quality portfolio data on core banking and credit systems.
- Minimizing expected credit loss, portfolio at risk, and impaired assets through proactive management and strategic insights.
- Developing and communicating comprehensive credit risk reports (internal and external) and building credit risk monitoring dashboards to track performance against expectations.
- Ensuring audit and regulatory compliance objectives are met, including meeting targets for audit and regulatory inspection outcomes.
- Establishing and nurturing strong partnerships with Business and Business Support teams, as well as other Bank functions, to ensure cohesive portfolio management.
- Periodically reviewing and recommending changes to the Bank's Credit Policy, and continuously evaluating the effectiveness of established policies and procedures.
- Creating and presenting analytical reports and insights to key stakeholders and leadership, identifying reasons for variances from expectations, understanding changes in portfolio performance, and evaluating the impact on loss and profitability.
- Automating the generation of insights and tracking the value of insights produced to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in credit portfolio management.

Job Specifications
Ideal Candidate
Academic:
- University degree (Upper Second Division or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, Statistics or a related field.
Professional:
- Relevant professional qualification in Banking, Accountancy, Credit Risk Management, or Financial Analysis (e.g., CFA, CPA, FRM).
- Additional certifications in data management, data analytics, or related IT programs are a plus.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the banking sector, with at least 3 years in portfolio analysis or credit risk management roles.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis and credit portfolio management.
- Proven proficiency in IT data management, data mining programs, and financial analysis tools.
- High proficiency in spreadsheet tools (e.g., Excel) and in presenting data effectively.
