    Clinical Officer-ENT

    Job Description

    The CO – ENT shall be responsible for providing specialized clinical care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ear, nose, and throat conditions. The role holder shall perform clinical duties, procedures, and interventions that are non-invasive or minimally invasive, and refer or escalate cases beyond their scope appropriately.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and hospital policies.
    • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and patient care.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including clinical and administrative staff.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes professional growth and high morale.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement staff development programs.
    • Develop and manage the facility’s budget, including revenue and expense forecasting.
    • Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Optimize resource utilization to achieve financial and operational goals.
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in all the service points.
    • Implement quality assurance programs to monitor and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
    • Address patient complaints and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute strategic plans for the facility.
    • Identify opportunities for service expansion, process improvements, and new program development.
    • Represent the hospital in community events, professional organizations, and public forums.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, referral sources, and other healthcare providers.
    • Promote outpatient services through marketing and public relations initiatives.Diagnose and manage common ENT conditions such as infections, allergies, and inflammations.
    • Prescribe medications in line with treatment protocols and guidelines.
    • Initiate referrals for specialized or complex cases.
    • Assist in or perform minor surgical procedures within scope.
    • Operate and maintain ENT diagnostic equipment including otoscopes, audiometry tools, etc.
    • Ensure proper sterilization and infection prevention during procedures.
    • Educate patients on disease prevention, treatment adherence, and follow-up care.
    • Provide guidance on hearing care, hygiene, and lifestyle modifications.
    • Support implementation of quality standards including SafeCare standards.
    • Participate in clinical audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
    • Support outreach programs and ENT screening activities when required.

    Skill & Experience

    • Degree or Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery.
    • Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery-ENT
    • Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and with a valid practicing license.
    • Minimum of 3 working years with one as an ENT specialist.
    • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills in ENT care

    Clinical Officer-Psychiatry

    Job Description

    The successful candidate shall be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with mental health disorders. The position holder shall provide quality mental health care, promote mental wellness, and support psychosocial rehabilitation within the facility and community.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments including history-taking, mental status examination, and risk assessments for patients presenting with mental health conditions.
    • Diagnose and classify mental disorders using internationally recognized diagnostic criteria.
    • Identify comorbid physical and mental health conditions and manage or refer appropriately.
    • Perform and interpret relevant investigations including neurological exams to support clinical diagnosis.
    • Formulate individualized evidence-based treatment plans including pharmacotherapy, psychoeducation, and supportive counselling.
    • Prescribe and review psychiatric medications in line with the National Treatment Guidelines and Kenya Essential Medicines List.
    • Monitor patients for therapeutic response, medication side effects, and treatment adherence.
    • Provide first-line crisis intervention and stabilization for patients presenting with acute psychiatric emergencies.
    • Coordinate inpatient care including admissions, ward rounds, and discharge planning.
    • Provide psychoeducation to patients, families, and caregivers on mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
    • Participate in community outreach programs on mental health awareness campaigns.
    • Work closely with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and other health professionals in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Participate in clinical audits, mortality and morbidity reviews, and quality improvement initiatives within the psychiatric unit.

    Skill & Experience

    • Degree or Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery.
    • Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery – Mental Health and Psychiatry
    • Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and with a valid practicing license.
    • Minimum of 3 working years with at least one in a mental unit set up.
    • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills in mental health
