    Projects Engineer

    • To support The Maa Trust in achieving its vision, mission, and goal by developing and implementing effectivehumanresources and administration strategies and best practices that enhance employee engagement, foster a positiveorganizational culture, ensure legal compliance, manage talent, and drive organizational development andperformance.

    Key roles and responsibilities:

    • Project Design and Planning
    • Lead the design of WASH and other infrastructure projects, including spring rehabilitation, rainwater harvestingsystems, classrooms, toilet construction, and other school construction infrastructures.
    • Develop technical drawings, specifications, and designs for spring rehabilitation, classrooms, toilets andotherschoolinfrastructures, and rainwater harvesting structures, including artificial roofs and large water tanks.
    • Ensure all designs comply with the Kenya Building Code, sensitive to local geographical and social dynamics,environmental standards, and best practices in water conservation and management.
    • Conduct site assessments to determine the most appropriate and sustainable solutions for each location. e) Coordinate application and securing of applicable permits and licenses.
    • Bill of Quantities (BoQ) Preparation
    • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for all construction projects, ensuring accuracy and adherencetoprojectbudgets. g) Work closely with procurement and finance teams to ensure timely contracting of contractors neededfor constructionprojects. Project Management
    • Act as the project manager during the construction phase, overseeing all aspects of construction workfor springrehabilitation, classrooms, toilets, other school infrastructure, and rainwater harvesting projects.
    • Coordinate and manage contractors, suppliers, and construction teams to ensure timely completionof projectswithinbudget and quality standards. j) Monitor progress on-site, resolve any issues or delays, and ensure compliance with safety and qualitystandards.k) Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the progress of each project. Technical Expertise
    • Provide expert knowledge and technical input into the design and construction of pit toilets, springrehabilitation,rainwater roofs and large water tanks, school infrastructure, ensuring structural integrity, durability, andcost-effectiveness.
    • Advise on the best materials, construction methods, and maintenance practices.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues related to water storage systems during constructionor post-construction. Quality Assurance and Compliance
    • Ensure that all construction work adheres to the highest standards of quality and complies with the KenyaBuildingCode, environmental regulations, and water management policies.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks throughout the construction process to ensure that all workiscompleted to specification.
    • Coordinate collection and analyse data from tank meters and cashless kiosk dispensers. Stakeholder Coordination
    • Collaborate with project water committees, local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholderstoensure that projects are aligned with community needs and County and sub-county water strategies andplans. s) Provide technical advice and support to local community members and staff to ensure ongoing maintenanceandsustainability of the water projects.

    Job Competencies (Knowledge, Experience and Attributes / Skills).

    • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or a related field.
    • A structural engineer with experience in construction of water projects and project management is preferred.Registration with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) is an added advantage.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and managing construction projects especiallywater projects,
    • Supporting conservation through sustainable community development in the Maasai Mara including rainwater harvesting and spring rehabilitation.
    • Specific knowledge and experience in designing and constructing large water tanks, including material selection,structural design, and installation.
    • Proven experience in project management, including planning, budgeting,andoverseeing construction work.
    • Proficiency in creating detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs).

    The Production Accountant

    The Production Accountant at The Maa Bead-work will be responsible for overseeing all financial processes related to the production cycle withinMaaBead-worksocial enterprise. This includes managing the requisition, tracking, and costing of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products. The Production Accountant will ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting, timely cost allocation, and close collaboration with the leather, beading, andsalesdepartments to ensure that the production process runs efficiently and is financially sound.     • Pricing and Production Cost Management
    • Accurately costs raw materials, labour, and overheads associated with custom-designed items and standard bead-work products.
    • Calculates pricing for retail, wholesale, and custom orders and samples, taking into account material costs, labor costs, overheads, and productiontimelines.
    • Calculates piecemeal payments to bead-work artisans and submits monthly artisans’ payables to the finance team.
    • Reviews product pricing periodically to adjust for changes in raw material costs or market conditions
    • Monitors and controls production costs, including materials, labor, and overheads.
    • Analyzes variances between actual and standard costs and suggests corrective actions.
    • Provides financial reports on production costs and highlights any discrepancies or inefficiencies in the production cycle. Inventory Cost Tracking and Control
    • Track inventory movement of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, ensuring accurate valuation and reconciliationof stock.
    • Review and verification of raw materials’ requisitions (leather, beads, canvas, etc.).
    • Tracks and ensures requisitioned materials are utilized according to production requirements and production schedules.
    • Coordinates with the inventory and sourcing officer to establish and report on the value of raw materials inventory.
    • Tracks the movement of raw materials issued to the Leather and Beading departments as work-in-progress in the accounting system.
    • Ensures the accurate recording of materials used at each stage of production and monitors the progress of custom and pre-existing products. Financial Planning, Control, and Compliance
    • Assists in preparing annual financial plan, production budgets, and forecasts.
    • Submits monthly production projections/plans and budget.
    • Monitors production spending against budget and alerts management of discrepancies.
    • Coordinates with the Leather and Beading departments to ensure smooth flow of materials and work-in-progress.
    • Works with the sales team to provide cost breakdowns and pricing for retail, wholesale, and custom orders.
    • Communicates production costs and any adjustments to management for strategic decision-making.
    • Supports the operations and production teams in understanding and managing costs effectively.
    • Submits monthly inventory reports with key analysis, including detailing raw material usage, work-in-progress status, and finished goods availability.
    • Updates the monthly sales figures and reports on the sales tracking dashboard against set targets.
    • Analyses and report fast-selling products, sizes, colours and seasonal changes.

    Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
    • At least CPA part 2 qualification
    • At least 2-3 years of experience in accounting or financial management in a manufacturing or production environment.
    • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and production workflows.
    • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar) and ERP systems.
    • Knowledge of pricing strategies, cost analysis, and cost-based pricing models. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. 
    • Strong proficiency in Excel and other spreadsheet software
