    Sustainable Mobility and Gender Consultant

    • The consultant will also support country activities, outreach efforts, and the coordination of regional events aimed at advancing a gender-transformative and just transition to e-mobility. In close consultation with the LAC SMU Focal Point and the Gender Focal Point of UNEP’s SMU, the consultant will be responsible for the following activities
    • Lead the implementation of a replication project for BMZ in one country in Latin America on Electric Mobility and Gender. Oversee planning, coordination with national and local stakeholders, and reporting in line with BMZ and UNEP requirements.
    • Develop and deliver a six-part Webinar Series on South-South Learning to highlight insights, lessons, and replication opportunities emerging from BMZ project pilots in close coordination with the Gender SMU focal point.
    • Support the organization of a regional thematic accelerator, based on the Industry and Investor Handbook for E-Mobility and Gender, in collaboration with GIZ and a local partner.
    • Extract and analyse data from the six-counties in ACCESS, Gender analysis reports on gender and inclusion for integration into the Global Gender and E-Mobility Database and create visually engaging factsheets working in close coordination with the Gender Focal Point at the SMU.
    • Support the convening of a network and meetings of Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Caribbean on the topic of EV Battery End-of-Life and provide general technical support on this issue in the LAC region.
    • Support the development of the sub-regional electric mobility strategy for Central American Integration System – SICA countries.
    • Support the development and implementation of activities related to the electrification of two-and-three wheelers in LAC and provide input for Global E2&3-Wheeler Campaign by the Climate Works Foundation.
    • Provide general support to the Panama project lead, including the preparation of presentations and logistical arrangements for events and capacity-building activities.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in gender studies, sustainable transport, digitalization, urban planning, or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    •  At least 5 years of experience working on sustainable transport, electric mobility, and/or gender required;
    • Proven expertise in sustainable transport projects within Latin America and the Caribbean is required;
    • Solid understanding of electric mobility technologies, trends, and policy frameworks is required.;
    • Excellent skills in stakeholder engagement, technical writing, and effective communication is required;
    • Proven technical writing, analytical, presentation and communication skills are desirable;
    • Prior experience working in an international organization or government agency is desirable.
    • Strong knowledge of gender mainstreaming in development and transport contexts is desirable.
    • Familiarity with national and international development frameworks, including experience with donor-funded projects is desirable.

    Policy Coherence and Integration Analyst

    The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Nature Frameworks Support Unit, in coordination with the Programme Management Officers working on the EAS and NBSAP Update and 7th National Reports projects, and will be responsible for the following:

    •  In coordination with the programme team, provide dedicated technical support to countries for integrating policy coherence considerations into NBSAP updates and implementation. This work will include roll-out of survey/assessments of whole-of-government (WoG) and whole-of-society (WoS) approaches, including interviews with national stakeholder group representatives.
    • Organize and deliver virtual peer-to-peer sessions for countries to exchange and learn from each other's experiences, to inform WoG and WoS implementation of NBSAPs.
    • Based on the work carried out with countries, prepare recommendations for countries to apply effective WoG and WoS approaches, as well as criteria for countries to assess and apply effective WoG and WoS approaches.
    • Provide substantive inputs for development of dedicated communications and outreach material related to the actions above, including case studies demonstrating what countries are doing to advance policy coherence in their NBSAP update and implementation, and analysis of policy alignment with key development sectors impacting biodiversity, prepared for SBI-6 and COP17, for dissemination in various UN languages.
    • Prepare a final report summarizing actions undertaken, deliverables achieved, and lessons learnt during the period of consultancy.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in environmental sciences, environmental law, natural resources management or a related social science with a combination of five years of qualifying experience in the field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in supporting implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at multiple levels (international, regional, and national) is required.
    • Experience in country and stakeholder engagement on biodiversity issues, including supporting development and implementation of national action plans on environment and biodiversity is required.
