  • St Andrew’s School, Turi is highly respected in Kenya and regarded as one of the leading international schools in East Africa. Numbering 550 pupils, it comprises two semi-autonomous schools: a Preparatory School of circa 220 pupils between the ages of 3 and 13 and a Senior School of circa 330 pupils between the ages of 13 and 18. It is fully coeducational and the great majority are boarders. The School has an overtly Christian foundation and sees its overall aim as encouraging young men and women to ‘live and lead with integrity’.

    St Andrew’s School, Turi is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff to share this commitment.  All successful job applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening, including reference checks with previous employers and a criminal record check with the DBS or its equivalent

     

    Deputy Head Academic

     

    The Deputy Head Academic is expected to be enthusiastic, qualified professional who wish to be fully involved in all areas of school life and has a clear understanding of academic provision and management systems ideally in a Prep School setting within a Christian context.

    • Proactive, sound judgement combined with the highest standards of personal integrity, energy, stamina, resilience, enthusiasm, and a sense of humour
    • Ability to work dynamically and flexibly as part of a leadership team, to show initiative and imagination and the ability to inspire others
    • The presence, intellect, tact and credibility to represent the Prep School at all levels and to a variety of audiences, both internal and external
    • Vision, creativity, imagination, and academic curiosity combined with the ability to operate at a strategic level
    • First class oral and written communication and presentation skills
    • High levels of discretion and confidentiality
    • The ability to manage and prioritize a diverse workload, to meet deadlines, and to work calmly under pressure
    • Impressive personal presence and presentation
    • Highly literate and numerate, excellent in the use of IT and with a keen eye for detail
    • High work standards evidenced by a consistently thorough detailed and organised approach

    Responsibilities

    • Promoting the Christian ethos of the School
    • Deputising for the Head when required
    • Leading and implementing the School’s academic strategy
    • Developing and improving the overall quality of academic education in the School
    • Overseeing the development and implementation of academic management systems
    • Facilitating the integration of the academic lives of the Senior and Preparatory Schools

    Director of Co-curricular

     

    This is a high profile and demanding position, and the successful applicant will be a key figure in shaping the vision and direction of the Prep School. It is suited to a high caliber professional who combines exceptional leadership skills with significant experience.

    • Ensuring the reputation and delivery of co-curricular excellence at the Prep School
    • Developing and improving the overall quality of weekend provision
    • Facilitating the integration of the co-curricular activities within the broader scope of the Senior and Prep Schools
    • Leading and managing the co-curricular teams
