    Warehouse Supervisor

    Job Description

    The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the
    exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance

    It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles

    The Responsibilities:

    • Management of the warehouse operations;
    • Ensure that all goods are received in the Warehouses and recorded in the JD Edwards (ERP system) within agreed lead time:
    • Oversee the loading, offloading of trucks in the warehouses;
    • Supervise the picking, packing and dispatch of all items received at the warehouses, respecting agreed lead time:
    • In charge of the related activities of inventory management and control;
    • Ensure full compliance with standard operating procedures in place;
    • Warehouse staff management and related performance measure;
    • Ensure compliance with security rules at the warehouses;

    The Requirements

    • Relevant Degree from a recognized university;
    • Diploma in Stores Management or its equivalent;
    • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a similar field (in dynamic environment);
    • Excellent Computer Skills (Word, Excel. Power point, Databases) with experience in ERP.
    • Excellent command of English;
    • Certificate of good conduct;

    Protection Interpreter (Somali Language) - Nairobi

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oral interpretation: from Somali to English, and English to Somali during confidential interviews with people deprived of liberty (in places of detention/prisons), ICRC institutional dissemination, ICRC dialogue with Somalia authorities, activities to establish the family links (including Red Cross Messages delivery), family tracing and with families of detainees:
    • Written translation: translation of the Somali (newspaper articles, correspondence, etc.) into written English and vice versa
    • Supports the department in gathering, analysing and processing detention (prison) related information from direct and indirect sources:
    • Contributes to the preparation before detention (prison) visits, assists in the organisational and logistical aspects of the visits and assembles dissemination material:
    • Assists in the preparation of internal detention (prison) reports, detention related documents and/or external reporting documents:
    • Contributes to the analysis and understanding by the department of the Protection of Civilian Population (PCP) issues in Somalia and more specifically in the geographical area covered
    • Supports the protection delegate in establishing maintaining a network of relevant interlocutors with the humanitarian actors active in the area and the relevant stakeholders for protection issues
    • Translates and disseminates information related to protection activities/issues to various audiences and assists in the preparation of dissemination material adapted to the Somali context

    Minimum Requirements and Competencies

    • Bachelor's University degree. A degree in the field of languages, interpretation or translation is an added advantage;
    • At least 4 to 6 years of professional experience as an interpreter or a translator;
    • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Somali:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite:
    • Diplomacy, reliability and autonomy:
    • Open-minded and adaptable, able to work in a team;
    • Neat appearance, good communicator, well-developed reporting, writing and summarizing skills;
    • Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment;
    • Willing to travel anywhere in Somalia.

    Ports Operations Officer

    The Responsibilities:

    • Processing documents, payments and claims through KPA for both import and export cargo;
    • Follow up; local import charges and obtain delivery order, approved manifest number to allow timely lodging of import declaration and processing in KRA Simba system;
    • Facilitate evacuation of incoming containers from Port and Customer Freight Station (CFS);
    • Follow up release of cargo hold in KWATOS and KPA endorsement of cargo slip to enable handover of container for export;
    • For transit goods, liaise with transporter to ensure electronic cargo tracking seal (ECTS) providers are aware of time and locations of container evacuation to allow engaging E-seal with Customs
    • Follow up feedback for correspondences with customs authorities;
    • Ensure the customs entry and shipping documents are received at the warehouse to allow receipt of cleared shipment into inventory;
    • Hand over export documents to KPA export office to facilitate vessel planning and loading.

    The Requirements

    • Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding or shipping;
    • East African Customs Freight Forwarding practicing certificate (KRATI);
    • KRA Simba Trade X training;
    • Minimum 5 years work experience in a similar field;
    • Advanced Computer Skills;
    • Excellent command of English;
    • Valid driving license;

    • Ability to work independently under pressure with minimal supervision;
    • High degree of flexibility;
    • Good negotiation and communications skills;
    • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in a team;
