    Data Management Assistant

    Job Purpose / Objective: The position will be based in the filed site and will work closely with the field teams to improve program quality through improved data management systems and processes.
     
    Under the supervision of the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, the Data Management Assistant shall be responsible for collection, summarizing, compiling and dissemination, storing and timely reporting of all forms of data generated from the activities of the Health programs with a key focus on generation and submission of timely qualitative and quantitative reports.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Collate, clean and analyze data on Flu, Acute Febrile Illness, and diarrhea surveillance data.
    • Apply appropriate statistical analysis tools and methods for routine and ad-hoc analysis of cross-sectional as well longitudinal data.
    • Generate regular reports used by health program staffs for Monitoring & Evaluation purposes
    • Work with the M&E and program staff to develop and provide the required data collection tools and computer based data management & reporting system
    • Continuous and frequent close monitoring / supervision of all levels of data collection from entry, filling, compiling, summarizing and giving feedback to M&E Manager and Clinical Services Manager
    • Synchronize mobile phone data capture with desktop application and servers
    • Regularly update data after cleaning.
    • Participate actively in the enforcement of Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and Quality Improvement (QI) measures for health program interventions
    • Any other duty that may be assigned by the M&E Manager.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Degree / Higher Diploma in Health Records/Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics, IT, Health Sciences or other related field.
    Required Experience & Competencies:
    • Good knowledge of monitoring and evaluation technologies, techniques, approaches and methodologies in health programs.
    • Interest and/or experience in clinical or public health research/program
    • Computer literacy with possible advanced Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and Ms Access Relational database is required.
    • Excellent Knowledge of  EPI INFO, is required
    • Ability to plan and organize workflow is essential
    • Proficiency in data handling and management
    • Good analytical, planning, teamwork, leadership and inter - personal skills.
    • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation skills.

    Clinical Officer - CCC

    Job Purpose / Objective: Under the technical and administrative supervision of the HIV Program Manager, the CCC Clinical Officer will provide quality HIV Care and Treatment services to all HIV patients enrolled at the clinic.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Overall responsibility for the daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for all HIV patients attending the CCC Clinic.
    • Prepare the work schedule and ensure coverage of the CCC departments
    • Support supervisees in the delivery of quality services in terms of duty allocation, attending to beneficiaries and proper case management.
    • Occasionally conduct rounds in the TB ward
    • Amicably handle staffs’ disciplinary issues or disagreement under the guidance of HR and give feedback to supervisor
    • Ensure that all assessment and treatments provided are properly documented on patient’s files.
    • Ensure maintenance of an accurate and updated records keeping system in the CCC unit.
    • Ensure effective defaulter tracing mechanism is in place for both TB/HIV patients
    • Admit patients to the ward when necessary and inform the MO on call for senior review.
    • Regularly attend the monthly program staff meeting.
    • Coordinate biweekly CCC staff meeting to enhance quality of patient care
    • Ensure availability of clinical protocols and procedures; prescription, recording and registration of patients records in the facility.
    • Ensure all patient data, records and registers are updated and are kept safe
    • Monitor and provide on-going in-service training of refugee staffs attached to the department
    • Ensure health education to patients/clients on day-to-day basis is conducted.
    • Ensure integration of TB/HIV activities in the facility.
    • Keep complete and accurate inventory of drugs, equipment and supplies at the TB/CCC clinic, monitor and supervise their usage/consumption.
    • Ensure preparation and timely submission of  weekly/monthly CCC reports
    • Participate in the clinical calls as per the agreed schedule
    • Contribute to the program’s best practices documentation or case studies
    • Carry out minor surgical procedures at the health unit when on call.

    Nurse CCC

    Job Purpose / Objective: Under the guidance and supervision of the CCC clinical Officer, the CCC Nurse will provide quality care and treatment services to all PLHIV and TB clients attending the CCC clinic.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Assists the Clinical Officer in the daily running of the CCC clinic
    • Coordinate health education sessions in the facility
    • Overall responsible for the daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for all patients attending the CCC Clinic.
    • Ensure follow up of all HIV/TB patients in liaison with PwP facilitators
    • Strengthen the existing linkages between HTC , CCC and PwP
    • Provide appropriate PwP messages to patients based on their needs at facility level
    • Offer counseling on reproductive health services including FP to patients and promote uptake
    • Arrange with fellow clinicians on the coverage duty roster to ensure that weekends are properly covered
    • Attend to HIV/TB patients on a daily basis.
    • Ensure that all assessment and treatments provided are properly documented on patient’s files.
    • Ensure confidential record keeping of files and register at the facility
    • Admit patients to the ward when necessary and ensure that MO in charge is promptly informed
    • Participate in the facility meetings i.e. MDT, QIT and WIT meetings
    • Ensure care and treatment SOP are in place and in use
    • Monitor and provide on-going in-service training of refugee staffs attached to the unit
    • In liaison with other partners ensure holistic need of the patients are met using the existing referral mechanism
    • Keep complete and accurate inventory of medicines and supplies at the CCC, monitor and supervise their consumption
    • Carry out any other tasks that may be assigned by your supervisor.
    Key Result Areas
    • Patients receive quality care and treatment as per the national guideline
    • Family planning uptake among HIV+ women of reproductive age

    Required Qualifications:
    • Diploma in Nursing from KMTC or a recognized nurse training institution

    Adherence Counselor

    Job Purpose / Objective: To ensure all patients on HAART adhere  to treatment by offering routine adherence counseling, dispelling myths about HIV/AIDS & ART, patient education on how ART works, continued counseling, assessing readiness for ART and identify and address factors that might affect adherence.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    • Assess clients knowledge on HAART to the medication regime and the importance of adherence
    • Ensure all patients adhere to their treatment regimen using the 5A’s approach in adherence
    • Plan and execute disclosure and or assisted disclosure to clients with difficulties
    • Identify barriers to treatment and assist the client in solving problems that might compromise adherence.
    • Provide continuing education to clients regarding HIV/AIDS and ART
    • Development and documentation of an individualized medication schedule and follow up of the plans
    • Ensure adherence services are appropriately booked in the appointment diary and routinely complete the adherence book on daily basis.
    • Schedule group adherence sessions with care givers/ treatment buddy for newly enrolled and those with adherence concerns and ensure they are routinely held.
    • Ensure all patients are linked to Peer Educators allocated in the facility and all home visits conducted to all newly enrolled clients
    • Working in close collaboration with Community Linkage Officer (CLO) in organizing facility & community based support group schedule and ensure groups are meeting monthly
    • Work in close collaboration with CLO to ensure all clients are attached to psychosocial groups whether at facility level or community level
    • work together closely with the EGPAF Adhereance Officer supporting the facility to identify programmatic gaps, prepare activity plans and follow up on implementation.
    • Develop monthly adherence reports on the provided reporting templates
    • Work with the CLO to refer patients (both on ART and not on ART) to other services in the referral network
    • Access the support systems, network with other partners and develop referral directory
    • Routinely update referral log book with follow up outcomes and monitor to ensure successful service provision
    • Liaise with other facility departments and participate in HMT meetings to ensure clients have access to other HIV related services
    • Work closely with the CCC/PMTCT/TB teams to identify facility and departmental specific adherence gaps and support these facilities to develop and implement cost - effective facility specific adherence management plans
    • Any other roles assigned by your Supervisor.
    Key Result Areas:
    • Proportion of FP uptake among HIV positive women of reproductive age
    • Number of defaulters traced, re-started on treatment and became actively on care
    • Proportion of patients who report undetectable viral load after six months on HAART
    • Proportion of patients on first line ART for 24 months and beyond.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Diploma in Community Health Nursing
    • Registered with Nursing Council of Kenya
    • HIV counseling related trainings
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Knowledge in computer packages – Microsoft office, Excel and Ms-Access
    Required Experience & Competencies
    • Work experience in a high volume CCC clinic.
    • Ability to work in hardship areas (Previous experience in a Camp setting will be an added advantage)
    • Fluency in Turkana/Somali will be an added advantage.

    Consultancy for Qualitative Transcribers with Experience in Violence against Women

    Purpose of the Consultancy

    The main purpose of this consultancy is to transcribe qualitative data collected during the SASA! Adaptation study from Somali to English.

    Key tasks

    The transcribers will be charged with the following responsibilities;
    • Transcribing the data from Somali to English
    • Preparing a draft transcription report for comments and clarifications.
    • Preparing final transcription report;
    The responsibilities of the IRC will include;
    • Reviewing the prepared transcriptions and provide comments/clarifications
    • Provide a workspace for the transcribers including a computer
    • Share all existing SASA documentation for transcription
    • Arrange for professional fee payment after completion of the assignment
    Expected Deliverables

    The following deliverables will be expected from the transcribers;
    • Draft transcription report for comments and debriefing of IRC.
    • Final transcription report to be delivered to IRC in hard and soft copies;
    Consulting team and timeframe

    The team of transcribers will be composed of two persons (male and female) and will work for a period of ten (10) working days in Nairobi.

    Management and supervision

    The transcribers will work closely with the WPE Program Manager and WPE Coordinator in planning and executing the task.

    Requirements
     
    The transcribers should have;
    • A minimum of university degree in Social Science
    • Minimum 4 years of proven knowledge and professional experience in undertaking research and monitoring and evaluation of GBV projects.
    • Have solid knowledge and practical experience in research and analyses of qualitative data.
    • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English and Somali.
    • Previous knowledge in transcription will be an added advantage particularly Somali to English transcription.

    GBV Officer - Psychosocial

    Job Purpose / Objective: The GBV officer - Psychosocial will support the successful implementation of all psychosocial activities, and will be responsible for the provision of quality case management including direct counseling to GBV survivors. 
    In collaboration with the WPE manager and other WPE officers will support in the provision of training and supervising GBV Community Workers to respond to cases of GBV in the camp and ensure effective case management.
    This includes providing ongoing training and mentorship for community workers and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high quality services.
     
    Key Responsibilities
    Case management
    • Provide professional and confidential services to survivors of GBV, grounded in the IRC’s holistic, survivor-centered case management approach.
    • Document client information through accurate filling of intake forms and ensure confidential and safe storage
    • Support the maintenance of the IRC’s case management system by maintaining client confidentiality
    • Ensure the GBIMS is accurately updated on a regular basis
    • Ethically and confidentially collect and store GBV data .Participate in interpretation of the analyzed data on trends and work with the WPE manager to disseminate information to all relevant stakeholders
    • Participate in the development of case management monitoring systems and help to ensure that GBV community workers utilize these systems correctly and consistently.
    • Participate in preparation of all relevant reports regarding the IRC’s psychosocial activities.
    Training, Mentorship and couching
    • Supervise and provide training, mentorship, and other technical support to community workers directly involved with the psychosocial component of the International Rescue Committee’s GBV programme.
    • Provide leadership and guidance regarding psychosocial activities to all community workers to ensure all programme activities meet best practice standards.
    • Monitor and supervise case management, including capacity building through training and on-the-job training of community workers. Training topics should include active listening and effective communication, action and safety planning, GBV guiding principles, GBV basic concepts, and other related topics
    Coordination and networking
    • Strengthen and maintain networks through other service providers and camp management to ensure that survivors receive compassionate support from the community and to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination among partners (protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors).
    • Advice the GBV outreach officer on programming areas that require targeted interventions and campaigns based on trend analysis.
    • Work in collaboration with GBV outreach officer to ensure ongoing needs of women and girls are being met through prevention-related activities.
    • Organize and participate in case conferences and other interagency coordination meeting at camp the level.
    Partnership development
    • Participate in review meetings and psychosocial capacity assessment of the response community workers
    • Participate in capacity building trainings for the incentive staff
    • Update the focal persons of the referral networks between partners implementing GBV and implementation of its rationale
    • Assist the GBV program manager on technical review of reports on psychosocial component
    Others
    • Fulfill any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    • Respect the code of conduct and policies of the IRC and the standards of the GBV team
    • Adhere and uphold the IRC Way (intergrity, accountability and service) at the respective areas of work.

    The WPE Kenya program goal is to enhance survivor’s utilization of quality services responsive to their needs and strengthen community-based structures and solutions to better protect women and girls, promote their empowerment to access opportunities, services, and support.
    The GBV officer-Psychosocial  will oversee psychosocial activities  towards achieving the following program objectives
    • To improve survivors’ access to timely, holistic and quality case management
    • Strengthened engagement with communities to act in the best interests of women and girls
    • Invest in social and economic opportunities for women and girls to promote their wellbeing
    • Leverage partnerships and experience to advocate for priorities of women and girls.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Degree in gender Studies, psychology, sociology or Social Work
    • Diploma holders in social sciences with strong GBV experience will also be considered.
    • 4 years related field with experience.NGO experience is a plus
    • Excellent computer skills.
    Required Qualification & Competencies
    • Clear understanding of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women
    • Able to maintain confidentiality, medical ethics and respect for clients at all times.
    • Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization
    • Able to lead, train, supervise, facilitate and motivate GBV Community Workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
    • Positive, highly motivated, innovative, with strong organizational and inter-personal skills.
    • Able to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining attention to quality and detail.

    • Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.
