    Studio Manager, East Africa Bureau

    Job description

    Job Introduction

    Role Responsibility

    We are recruiting for two Studio Managers in our East Africa Bureau. The purpose of the role is to develop specialist skills whilst retaining the capability of balancing and controlling the whole range of radio productions, both live and pre-recorded. You'll be responsible for and offer advice on the technical quality, aural balance and audibility of programme material. You'll operate all studio equipment effectively and in a safe manner, complying with BBC Safety Regulations. This will include the use of mixing desks, controlling the routing of outside sources such as TBUs, ISDN and Audio over IP. It will also include operating playout and production-based systems as well as recording, editing, mixing, and replaying material. You'll lead teams within the studio, offering operational and creative guidance and advice.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Operational experience in live radio is essential, along with fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili. You'll need excellent aural judgement and a proven ability to prioritise in the most demanding on-air situations. We're looking for candidates with operational knowledge of professional sound equipment and recent developments in programme making methods. You'll have the ability to operate all equipment in a safe manner. Also essential is experience of successfully working in teams with an ability to form effective working relationships quickly, to inspire confidence and to influence others.
