    Monitoring and Evaluation (M&e) Officer

    Madrasa Early Childhood Programme-Kenya (MECP-K), an affiliate of the Aga Khan Foundation East Africa, was founded in the 1980's with the objective of promoting access to quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Education for children in Kenya. MECP-K is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with strong personal commitment to the education needs of children to fill in the positions below.

    Location: Kisumu and Kisii Counties

    The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer will be responsible for reviewing and implementing programme M&E system under the overall guidance of M&E Coordinator and Region Coordinator. He/she will also be responsible for preparing quarterly/annual technical reports on projects' progress, monitoring and ensuring high quality and timely inputs to facilitate the achievement of intended outputs and program outcomes. The M&E Officer will maintain the Region's Programme Management Information System (MIS) and will be responsible for collection and analysis of data related to programme activities.

    Qualifications and competencies

    • Minimum Degree in a relevant discipline, such as education, international development, or social sciences or IT
    • Minimum of 2 years of relevant practical experience implementing M&E systems in a development context
    • Experience in planning and implementation of M&E systems
    • Experience with database management, information analysis and reporting
    • Experience with results-based management and associated tools,
    • Experience with building capacity and/or mentoring others to strengthen their M&E skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills in English (and Kiswahili is an added advantage)
    • Excellent computer skills including expertise with Excel; ACCESS, EPI - INFO
    • Highly organized, self-driven and able to meet strict reporting deadlines
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Demonstrate openness to change and able to manage multiple tasks

    Early Childhood Development Programme Officers (PO)

    Location: Kisumu and Kisii Counties

    The ECD Programme Officers will work under the guidance and leadership of the Region Coordinator and in partnership with County ECD officials to facilitate implementation of programme activities and deliverables. The PO will organise, coordinate and facilitate training of County ECD teams, ECD teachers and provide on-going mentorship and support.

    Qualifications and competencies

    • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development or Education from a recognized university
    • Minimum of 3 years' experience working in the education sector preferably Early Childhood Development
    • Practical knowledge and experience in Child Centred Methodologies
    • Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as in a team.
    • Strong organizational and report writing skills.
    • Good facilitation skills
    • Computer literate
    • Fluent in English and Kiswahili
    • Residing in the above mentioned counties

    Programme Assistant (PA)

    Location: Kisumu and Kisii Counties

    The Programme Assistant (PA) will report to the Region Coordinator. The PA will provide oversight to the administration function in the offices through designing and Implementing efficient administrative systems & processes. He/She will be required to perform clerical work including maintaining office petty cash float on day to day basis. The PA will lead in asset administration and procurement of all goods and services by ensuring that MECP-K and/or donor approved procedures are complied with. He/she will oversee the implementation of the organisation safety and security guidelines. He/ she will provide support in organising conferences, trainings, project review and planning meetings, field visits and workshops by arranging venues, meeting materials, distribution of minutes and agendas among others.

    Qualifications and competencies

    • Under graduate degree in a relevant discipline, such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant practical experience in Administration
    • Experience working with NGOs and/or government agencies, and with donor-funded projects.
    • Functional knowledge in procurement, asset management, inventory maintenance, logistics and workplace safety.
    • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
    • Capacity to multi-task, work independently and take initiative
    • Ability to communicate effectively and work effectively as part of a small team
