    Commercial Producer

    REF No. HRD/CTV/CP/08/2018

    Roles

    The Commercial Producer’s role will include the following:

    • Internalizing briefs and coming up with original, distinctive and exciting concepts
    • Copywriting
    • Executing production process
    • Pitching and presentation to clients
    • Interpretation and application of research to their concepts
    • Identify electronic as well as digital opportunities
    • Be up to date on overall advertising trends on programming
    • Have planning and budgeting skills

    Key focus areas: Developing Commercially viable concepts, good presentation skills, good product support skills, able to deliver under pressure and development of original and effective TV products.

    Job Qualifications

    • University Graduate
    • Minimum two years’ experience in a media scene (Marketing/Advertising)

    Bahari Fm Presenter

    Bahari Fm is seeking to fill the position of a radio presenter. If you believe you have what it takes to fill the above position, take time and read through and apply.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will among others be able to do the following;

    • Research, plan and develop on air content, ideas and concepts in line with the station strategy and values.
    • On air presentation/continuity, news and acting on feedback from listeners.
    • Thoroughly understands and relates with the typical BAHARI FM listener
    • Write broadcasting reports and execute commercial logs
    • Music research – identifies, propose and source music to be incorporated into the station sound.
    • Carry out outside broadcasting/Road shows and attend functions on behalf of the station.
    • Receiving briefs from clients/ sales/ supervisor and executing accordingly.
    • Scripting, recording, packaging and producing station features
    • Creatively create and execute on air gaming elements
    • Cross-promote the company’s online & traditional product lines
    • Conceptualize and execute online campaigns for various projects
    • Update all station social media platforms regularly
    • Liaise with digital sales officers to create campaigns that can be commercialized

    Skills and Personal attribute

    • Fluent in spoken and written English and Swahili with a radio voice & personality as well as an ear for music.
    • Able to work odd hours including weekends and holidays without supervision.
    • Must be social media savvy, innovative and creative
    • Have an understanding of Media Law and Ethics

    Job Qualifications

    • A university degree or Diploma in journalism / mass communication or another related field from a recognized university.
    • At least 3 years experience as a Presenter /newsreader/reporter/subeditor in a reputable radio station.

    Radio Correspondent

    Job responsibilities

    • Generating ideas for news stories and news features
    • Following leads from news agencies, the police, the public, press conferences and other sources;
    • Generating ideas to head of desks , editors and producers;
    • Researching and compiling relevant information to support a story using credible information sources such as the internet, archives, databases, etc.;
    • Writing scripts for bulletins, headlines and special reports;
    • Exercising judgment on the best story angle;
    • Using portable digital audio recorders and other equipment to record material and appropriate editing software to produce complete packages for broadcast;
    • Preparing material for both pre-recorded and live pieces;
    • Filling stories from the respective county
    • Developing and maintaining useful contacts and relations with news sources;
    • Understanding and complying with media law and industry codes of conduct.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in journalism, mass communications or any other related field
    • At least one year relevant experience as a reporter / correspondent in a busy media house.

    Essential Competences

    • Excellent written and spoken Kikuyu, Kimeru , English and Swahili (Attach – Kikuyu, Kimeru, English and Swahili demo in mp3 format)
    • An edge for news or features, ability for quick thinking, persistence, personal initiative and a good memory
    • Sound knowledge of the local and international social, political and economic news-shaping environment
    • A clear communicating voice
    • Ability to report accurately and impartially.

    Business Editor

    Job Ref No. HRD/ RBE/29-2018

    Roles

    The Business editor’s role will include the following:-

    • Generate business news stories for all Royal Media owned radio stations
    • Devise and implement strategies to continuously grow news audience numbers
    • Manage the daily running of the Business News Desk
    • Assign various duties to radio reporters and correspondents on the docket or beat
    • Monitor business news-based content & feedback on social media
    • Structure the day’s business news outlook and chair planning/strategy meetings
    • Guide county correspondents on what to cover and how to package their items
    • Edit business news items from reporters and correspondents
    • Generate feature stories coverage plan and ensure bulletins have business news feature stories
    • Ensure quality and timely business news content on radio and online
    • Proofread script to ensure it is balanced, properly presented, free of errors and adheres to the company editorial policy and house style.
    • Translate/transcribe script and audio as required
    • Ensure adherence to highest level of integrity

    Skills and Personal Attributes

    • Impeccable command of English and Kiswahili
    • Strong writing and translation skill
    • Competent editing skills using Cool edit, Adobe Audition software or equivalent
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Understanding of Media Laws & Ethics
    • Self driven, assertive, punctual & organized
    • Have a nose for news, widely knowledgeable & attention to detail
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm, drive, commitment, honesty and loyalty

    Job Qualifications

    • University Graduate in Communication or another related field from a recognized University. Masters degree in Communication or equivalent will be an added advantage.
    • At least 5 years experience in a reputable newsroom three of which must be in a senior position.
