    Senior Cyber Security Operations Center Analyst

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy within the Corporate Security Division.

    The Cyber Security Operations Center (CSOC) team is responsible for monitoring, assessing and defending Safaricom Enterprise Information Systems. The team continuously develops and investigates correlated security event feeds, escalating any identified security incidents. They are the primary contact for any suspected security incidents, working together with remediation teams, resolving incidents and foiling Cyber Security threats against the Safaricom Brand.

    Reporting to the Team Leader – Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC), the successful candidate will lend support in Cyber threat detection, working in 24/7 shifts, providing eyes-on-the-glass service at the Safaricom CSOC, performing real-time monitoring and identification of security incidents. He/She will help identify suspicious activity, open incident investigation tickets and escalate any key concerns to Level 2/3 for additional analysis & communication.

    Responsibilities

    • Work in 24*7 shifts performing real time monitoring of security alerts generated by various security tools deployed by Safaricom
    • Serves as a primary point of contact for reporting potential security incidents
    • Validate, classify and open tickets for security incidents
    • Analyze and assess security alerts and escalate to Level 2/3 analysts for further investigations and communication
    • Document security incidents as identified by the case management process
    • Provide feedback on enhancing the operations of the cyber security operations Centre
    • Respond to generated security alerts within the time window as defined in procedural SLAs
    • Pick out potential intrusions from seemingly benign sets of audit logs or security alerts
    • Triage (primary investigation) of detected security alerts and make necessary escalation decisions
    • Escalation to appropriate teams, follow ups and provide assistance during remediation

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science/IT Security/Information Technology
    • Knowledge of common SIEM solutions, the purpose of them and an understanding of how they work
    • Knowledge of common network protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, etc.
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows and *NIX operating systems is required.
    • Knowledge and/or experience with common security tools such as anti-virus, Intrusion Prevention Systems and Firewalls is an added advantage
    • Knowledge and/or experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) – Oracle, MS SQL, My SQL, Pervasive SQL is an added advantage
    • Good communication and presentations skills are required

    Digital NOC Engineer

    We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Converged Service Operations Department within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Team Manager – Digital Network Operations Centre – Converged Service Operations the position holder will be responsible for end-to-end fault management in technology which includes alarm monitoring, first level troubleshooting and resolution, trouble ticket management and faults escalation to 2nd level.  The holder of the role will also manage execution of changes on the network and preventive maintenance on network elements across the network.

    Responsibilities

    • To develop and analyze relevant daily/weekly/monthly reports on various key aspects of the Digital NOC section.
    • To issue regular updates on service/network outages to the Technology, Enterprise Business Unit, Consumer Business Unit and Customer Operations divisions.
    • To actively follow up on Major/Critical Incidents in collaboration with the Regional Networks Team, Incident Management team and other stakeholders.
    • To perform alarms monitoring and  First line fault resolution across the RAN, VAS, CORE, NPS, TRANSPORT and DATA (fixed/mobile) domains.
    • To do Network Trouble Ticket (NTT) Management including creation of Trouble Tickets for network faults detected; tracking and update of TT status during its lifecycle (e.g. opened, assigned, dispatched, resolved, closed, etc.); tracking of all key information on TT (e.g. date/time of TT creation, organizational group that created TT, description of first diagnosis, etc).
    • To work closely with the Change and Logical Access team to ensure logical access for all key RAN, CORE, VAS, TRANSPORT and DATA tools is done efficiently and effectively.

    Requirements

    • Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Telecoms Engineering.
    • 3 years of work experience in telecoms, preferably in a GSM environment, field operations or network management, 1 year of which must be in a busy NOC environment.
    • Highly analytical with strong reporting and presentation skills.

    • Lead regular vendor support review meetings
    • Implement proactive measures to ensure system uptime
    • Support 1st line and 2nd line teams on OSS systems.
    • Provide 1st line support for all OSS systems
    • Ensure probes capacity is monitored and expansions done on time.
    • Support customer care users on CM SMS tools

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor of Science Computer Science, IT, Computer Engineering or Software Development or related subject
    • 3 years + experience in administration of systems (bias to monitoring systems), in a busy IT environment
    • Experience in at least one scripting language
