    Research Scientist - Healthcare

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

     

    As a research scientist you will work on research projects for a market sector of Philips Healthcare or sometimes for a corporate project. You will work in multi-disciplinary teams that are strong application focused. You will develop new concepts and translate them into options for innovations with industrial relevance.

     

    An overview of your tasks:

     

    • Carry out industrial research in (connected) primary and secondary healthcare, enlarging relevant knowledge and bringing-in new knowledge;
    • Pro-actively make knowledge available for operational use within Philips, such as to contribute to successful transfers of research results to the customer;
    • Keep abreast of technical, application and market developments in the relevant technological and industrial areas, showing interest in the business aspects;
    • Contributing technical expertise to projects as needed.
    • Contribute pro-actively to a creative and inspiring working environment;
    • Contribute pro-actively to a secure working environment.

     

    More specifically:

     

    • Defining and realizing clinical workflows (eliciting requirements for clinical workflows, formalizing and implementing them).
    • Creating propositions for primary and secondary healthcare, with initial focus on screening, Triage, mother & childcare and cardiac care based on the requirements of the healthcare needs in Africa.
    • Clinical validation of the developed solutions in forms of the validation though the clinical practice and also clinical trials. Practical experience in setting up or conducting a clinical trial is an added value.
    • Take primary responsibility for research data collection, including supporting the development of methods and draft data collection tools and planning for field studies
    • Contribute to the development of research proposals as needed, including through reviewing literature and synthesising learning from reviews.
    • Providing technical support in Monitoring and Evaluation of the varied research projects and trials in the R&D portfolio.
    • You will keep on developing your knowledge via networking, conferences, scientific articles, etc. External exposure (for example by means of scientific publications) and external collaborations (for example with universities) are highly encouraged.

      We are looking for:

      We are looking for highly qualified healthcare scientist (MSc, PhD, PhD+ Post Doc or industrial R&D experience).

      • You are a team worker and customer/goal oriented.
      • You also have the mind-set of an entrepreneur.
      • You have a flexible and open mind and you are willing to enter new areas of industrial research
      • Have Good analytical and follow through ability
      • Sound understanding on health systems and specifically Primary health systems in Africa
      • Have Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods (specifically in undertaking impact evaluation)

      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
      • ability to work in an interdisciplinary scientific environment
