The job holder will be responsible for monitoring, controlling and analyzing treasury activities in order to ensure efficiency and proper risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
Control of limits
Maintaining and controlling trading limits in the various systems (dealer limits, end of day positions, intraday FX positions, stop loss limits, counterparty limits and broker limits).
Ensuring annual review of limits.
Reporting
Reporting on expired limits, daily risk exposures and limit excesses, utilization of limits and counterparty lines.
Revaluation data & deal control
Initial verification of trade details; Risk modelling and calculation of the counterparty risks.
Daily verification of End of Day rates as well as End of month Security (T/bonds & T/bills) and FX revaluation.
Updating of MTM sources that are reflective of market rates and prices.
Daily follow up of customer instructions related to FX trading.
Reconciliations
Performing an ageing analysis of Suspense and Sundry items and accounts
Reconciliation of FX position accounts.
Daily reporting on the CBK and Nostro closing balance to ascertain efficient placement of funds
Monitoring of Front Office P&L.
Conducting brokerage reconciliation to ensure correct fees are paid out and correct compensation interests paid or received
Product development
Support Front Office on product program development and budget preparation
Audit and financial control
Ensure that any audit issues highlighted in treasury front and back office are closed and not repeated in the next audit.
Competencies, Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree holder in either Business, Mathematics Statistics or Economics
- Certified Public accountant ACCA, CPA (K) is an added advantage
- ACI qualification and GARP/KESDEE certification are an added advantage.
- 3 years’ experience in a bank with at least 2years experience in middle office/finance role.
- Advanced technical skills in finance and risk analysis, in particular, risk quantification and portfolio management;
- Middle Office /Back Office experience would be useful;
- Must possess good understanding of market risk concepts and application,
- Ability to assess risk and appropriate levels of return,
- Good knowledge of Treasury products and support systems,
- Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
