    Loadmaster B-1900

    Job Summary

    TheLoadmaster / Flight Engineerperforms duties as an aircraft Load Master/Flight Engineer on multi-engine fixed wing aircraft in support of the U.S. Department of State (DoS), Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Office of Aviation (INL/A) . Missions may involve support of flight training, transport of personnel and equipment, reconnaissance, search and rescue, and medical evacuation flights in B-1900D or DHC-8-315 aircraft.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Perform all required Load Master (non-rated crew member) duties in accordance with DynCorp and DoS policies and procedures to include existing company training programs.
    • Perform duties in accordance with FAA, ICAO or OEM Regulations and other tasks required to service and maintain the aircraft.
    • Performs daily, pre-flight, thru flight and post flight checks to ensure aircraft meets flight safety standards.
    • Ensure aircraft records are maintained and record all incidents noted during inspections and during flight.
    • Plan and perform loading and unloading activities, compute the center-of-gravity limits and ensure it is within prescribed limits at all times.
    • Ensure the cargo compartment is properly configured for each mission.
    • Verify and maintain a manifest for cargo and/or personnel.
    • Supervise and participate in loading/unloading operations.
    • Ensure cargo and passengers are properly restrained, and confirm security of said.
    • Supervise passengers during routine and emergency operations.
    • Report any malfunction, maintenance or safety concern to the Pilot-in-Command.
    • Perform emergency procedure actions as required by applicable directives and/or the Pilot-in-Command.
    • Perform aircraft servicing duties including fueling operations, aircraft configuration changes as required.
    • Must demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply technical data and instructions in the performance of required duties.
    • Service, troubleshoot and inspect aircraft structures, systems, components and related systems.
    • Participate in Maintenance Test Flights as a crew member or Technical Observer (TO), as required.
    • Performs other administrative or maintenance duties as assigned
    • Performs additional duties related to flight operations as required.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • During training and throughout the employment period, the individual must demonstrate and maintain proficiency in understanding aircraft systems, components, and operating limitations as well as understanding and complying with regulations and policies and aircraft operations manuals.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of FAA, ICAO, DoS INL/A, and DynCorp International policies and regulations pertinent to the operational requirement.
    • Abler to provide documentation of completion for manufacturer's course of instruction, military flight training, licenses or job related certifications.
    • Possess or the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance is a condition of employment; an active DoD Secret Security Clearance is preferred.
    • Possess a current US Passport or the ability to obtain one before assignment.
    • Able to read and write English, interpret and apply technical data and instructions in the performance of required duties.
    • Possess a thorough knowledge of maintenance procedures for fixed wing multiengine turboprop aircraft and be familiar with FAA, the Original Equipment Manufacturer, and technical manuals governing aircraft maintenance procedures.
    • Thorough knowledge of the proper utilization of aviation tools, special tools, hardware and equipment used in the maintenance and re-configuration of large fixed wing aircraft.

    Experience & Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Five (5) or more years Loadmaster/Flight Engineer experience on multi-engine fixed wing aircraft required.
    • A&P License and a minimum of two (2) years of flight line/overhaul/inspection experience required.
    • Previous experience as a full-time as a Loadmaster/Flight Engineer within the past 12 months preferred.
    • Current altitude chamber qualification desired.
    • AFSC 1A1 Flight Engineer/1A2 Loadmaster series or other military/commercial equivalent desired.
    • Previous experience as a Loadmaster/Flight Engineer in multi-engine aircraft preferred.

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment

    • Current FAA Class III Medical Certificate required.
    • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to twelve (12) hours per day and sit for up to eight (8) hours per day.
    • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
    • Must be able to read and interpret newspaper and typewritten print, maps, aeronautical charts, and weather charts.
    • Must be able to grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
    • Must be able to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
    • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, work stands, and capable of climbing vertical ladders or built-in aircraft steps to heights of 10-12 feet.
    • May be exposed to chemical mist, gas, vapors, ultra-violet and infrared radiation.
    • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds to a height of four (4) feet and be required to lift up to 20 pounds to a height of seven (7) feet.
    • May be exposed to certain obstructions on the surface as well as ladders, stairs, etc.
    • May be exposed to rapid or extreme temperature changes.
    • Employee will be required to participate in Altitude Chamber training upon hire and on a recurring basis.
    • Individual must be able to travel to and between remote locations in austere and/or hostile environments.
    • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
    • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
    • May be exposed to fumes, gas, airborne particles, chemical mist, vapors, ultra-violet and infrared radiation.
    • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles or aircraft.

    Travel

    • Travel to and between CONUS and OCONUS locations as requested is required.
