    Deputy Director, Basic Education

    The Deputy Director, Basic Education will report to the Senior Deputy Director Curriculum and Research services

    a) Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Design systems, procedures and practices necessary for effective curriculum development;
    2. Coordinate development and evaluation of curriculum support materials;
    3. Establish and maintain databank on all statistics pertaining to curriculum; and
    4. Initiate and organize symposia, exhibitions, conferences, workshops, education days for purposes of sharing and disseminating experiences.

    b) Requirements for Appointment
    For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:


    (i) A Master’s Degree in Education with specialization in curriculum studies and research or related field, with relevant working experience at supervisory level.
    (ii) Served as a Senior Assistant Director in the area of curriculum development and implementation for at least three (3) years;
    (iii) Knowledge in national and international trends in curriculum development and research;
    (iv)Attended the Strategic Leadership Development Programme at the Kenya School of Government; and
    (v) Proficiency in computer use and application.

    Method of Application

    Applicants interested in any of the above positions are expected to fulfill the requirements of chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya.
    Specifically, they must obtain and submit with their application, copies of the following:

    1. Tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
    2. Clearance certificate from Higher Education loans Board (HELB);
    3. Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC);
    4. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal investigation; and
    5. Clearance from Credit Reference Bureau.
