    Body & Interiors Engineer

    The Body & Interiors Engineer will work together with selected engineering partners and suppliers to design, develop and deliver to production the respective complete body & interiors system and components whilst ensuring adherence to the required quality, cost, weight and function targets.

    The role will require a close working relationship with the Technical, Production and Supply Chain teams.

    Responsibilities for the Body & Interiors Engineer Job

    • Support the development of the exterior & interior body system (including but not limited to body Monocoque design, exterior panels, fixtures, chassis frame) through requirements definition, component selection and detailed design.
    • Track and report on quality, cost, weight and function targets for the Body and Interior components.
    • Ensure robust design process is carried out on component designs by executing required DFMEA’s on relevant systems.
    • Ensure release and accurate maintenance of all applicable CAD drawings for the body and interior components through structured design review and engineering change approval process.
    • Work with supply chain team to liaise with suppliers on selected designs and ensure required design goals and functionality.
    • Work with test engineer to ensure all Body & Interior components and systems are adequately functionally verified.
    • Work with supply and production teams to review body & interior systems suitability for local manufacture or integration at local assembly facility.
    • Work with Product Quality Engineer to support or lead root cause analysis on product quality issues affecting the body &interior components.
    • Support product and process cost reduction activity or improvement initiatives throughout product lifecycle.

    Qualifications for the Body & Interiors Engineer Job

    • An ideal candidate should combine outstanding technical skills in mechanical engineering and with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • They should possess a strong skill set in leading required projects from start to completion, interfacing with others including internal and external teams and partners. Experience within automotive industry

    Required

    • Bachelor degree (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or similar
    • Minimum years related experience in mechanical engineering – preferably with a major automotive company
    • Strong problem solving ability in cross-functional and multi-cultural environment; able to define problems, collect relevant data, extract meaning from data, and draw valid conclusions
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and components
    • Proficient in D product design tools like CATIA, Solidworks
    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment and work within a diverse team
    • Extreme patience and a good sense of humour
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Exceptional analytical skills with regards to analysing data, data manipulation, and the ability to create information from data
    • Ability to effectively communicate timelines and project progress with both internal and external management teams
    • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and components
    • High sense of drive and urgency in achieving our vision
    • Ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment and work within a diverse team

    Desired

    • Fluency in Kiswahili (the national language of Kenya)
    • Knowledge of automotive interiors process
    • Knowledge of materials for automotive manufacture including composites
    • Functional understanding of composites manufacturing, processing and tooling practices
