Program Manager at Centre for Health Solutions - Kenya (CHS)

Overall Job Function

This role oversees the implementation of a TB REACH funded project -Finding the children: Paediatric TB in Kenya. The Program Manager will be responsible for providing management and technical support to ensure implementation of the Finding the Children project including MER activities in supported counties. Specifically, he/she is responsible for planning, coordinating and providing strong leadership to the project team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee effective implementation for the TB REACH Finding the Children project as per organisation and donor guidelines.
2. Oversee project monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
3. Support the development, and ensure the implementation and routine monitoring of the programmatic annual work plan in collaboration with the team.
4. Oversee timely submission of project reports as agreed with the donor and other stakeholders.
5. Ensure achievement of organisation and donor targets through the team
6. Supervise direct reports and ensure delivery of work in the region
7. To review analysed quarterly facility programmatic reports and provide feedback to the relevant stakeholders.
8. To contribute to budget preparations as well as to monthly, quarterly and semi-annual reports in a timely and accurate manner.
9. Play a lead role in capacity building activities such as didactic trainings, CMEs and other innovative training modalities to Ministry of Health staff in supported facilities.
10. Oversee the establishment and management of relationships with Ministry, Counties and Health Facilities, partners and stakeholders in the counties of operation.
11. Assist with the conceptualisation and design and conduct of operational research.
12. Document the project achievements including publications.
13. Additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Person Specification

• A degree in nursing, clinical medicine, public health, or equivalent health related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage
• At least five years’ experience in implementing a health program
• Experience in paediatric tuberculosis programming is an added advantage
• Ability to identify problems, design interventions and oversee their implementation
• Ability to work well with others and develop and maintain relationships with project staff other partners, including ability to supervise staff
• Ability to use Word and PowerPoint to develop presentations and Excel for moderately complex spread sheets
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills
