    Technical Advisor - Behavior Change Intervention

    Main Purpose of Job

    The holder will seek to understand the links between social stratification (gender, ethnicity, religion) access to health services, education, illness representations, cultural constructions of femininity and masculinity, attitudes to health promotion, and health behaviour.

    The Job holder will also provide technical advice in BCI and Gender related interventions in the community and identify the structural barriers that hinder service consumption especially FP/RMNCAH and gender equality gaps

    Qualifications for the Technical Advisor Job

    • MA Degree in Anthropology
    • Ability to take initiative
    • Excellent presentation, written and communication skills in English and Kiswahili
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and cultural tolerance
    • Problem solving and initiative oriented
    • Analytical skills
    • Mature
    • Demonstrated technical expertise in FP/RMNCAHBCI interventions
    • Proven skills in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of FP/RMNCAH programmes
    • Team player but also able to work independently
    • At least Five (5) years’ of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated technical expertise in behaviour change interventions
    • Proven skills in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of FP/RMNCAH programmes

    Technical Advisor Job Responsibilities

    • Provide technical advice in BCI and Gender related interventions in the community and identify the structural barriers that hinder service consumption especially FP/RMNCAH
    • Provide technical advice on gender inclusive/sensitive programming
    • Document the process, issues, challenges and recommendations for Improvements/scaling up BCI interventions in the project area
    • Inculcate a deeper understanding of structural (socio-cultural and religious) barriers to FP/RMNCAH in the community
    • Identify key strategies to addressing retrogressive cultural norms affecting FP/RMNCAH uptake
    • Design appropriate strategies to improve acceptability and uptake of FP/RMNCAH practices
    • Supervise a SBCI officer, a Gender Officer and a Youth Officer
    • Provide technical support in the regional assessments of behaviour change communication in order to develop culturally appropriate and harmonized BCI strategies and tools for the high risk populations
    • Review the behaviour change communication and community engagement strategies knowledge base information, education and communication (IEC) materials, practices and the gaps in BCC for FP/RMNCAH interventions
    • Identify culturally-specific beliefs and practices affecting health uptake and access to services for distinct populations and communities, in collaboration with medical and public health officials.
    • Formulate general rules that describe and predict the development of behavior within cultures and social institutions.
    • Collaborate with other teams to decide on the implementation of proposed health interventions based on culturally institutionalized barriers and facilitating circumstances.
    • Provide expertise in social science methods for monitoring and evaluation of BCI, community Mobilization and advocacy including specific components of the interventions.
