Job Purpose

The Quality Assurance Officer will be reporting to the Head of Quality Assurance (functionally) and Factory Manager (administratively). He/She will ensure that all products are manufactured in accordance to the set standards by overseeing and monitoring all the stages of the production process

Responsibilities for the Quality Assurance Officer Job

• Acting as the organizations food-safety team leader and overseeing the laboratory activities at the factory to ensure quality at all times
• Analyzing and interpreting the laboratory results and advising the relevant department
• Undertaking frequent inspections of the factory and its surroundings and identifying safety hazards and informing the relevant authorities of the same
• Conducting quality audits at the factory, depot and in the market and reporting on the same along with recommendations on improvements
• Training employees on food safety and proper manufacturing practices
• Reporting on quality, stock utilization and cost of quality to the head office
• Handling customer complaints pertaining to quality matters
• Participating in the analysis of returned products
• Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

Qualifications for the Quality Assurance Officer Job

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Technology / Dairy Technology or related field
• Certified in Quality Management System (QMS) will be an added advantage
• 5 – 6 years’ experience
• Proficient with office computer applications
• Prior experience supervising a unit / others doing similar work
• Excellent analytical skills
• Well-developed report writing skills
• Time management skills and attention to detail
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated supervisory skills
