Job Purpose
The Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible to the Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist for the planning, organizing and coordinating of Pharmaceutical services in the Hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Planning, Supervision, Coordination and Evaluation of pharmaceutical services.
• Facilitating regular inspections and quality control audits to ensure conformity with national guidelines and regulations.
• Participating in planning and budgeting for drugs and pharmaceutical requirements including for the Hospital including Performance Contract negotiations.
• Maintaining Pharmacy files, charge system inventory procedures and control of drugs
• Supervising quality pharmaceutical services which include; examination and filing of prescriptions.
• Directing Pharmacy Staff engaged in compounding, mixing, packaging, labelling and dispensing Pharmaceuticals.
• Assisting in the review of pharmacy policies and procedure manual.
• Protecting patients and support staff by adhering to Infection Control Protocols.
• Inspection and examination of pharmaceutical supplies.
• Participating in departmental quality improvement control programmes.
• Ensuring that dispensing of drugs is done professionally.
• Effective supervision, training and development of staff.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management
• Higher Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.
• Proven experience of at least three (3) years in the grade of Assistant Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist or equivalent position in a large organization.
• Registration with the Pharmacy and poisons Board.
• Certificate in computer operations from a recognized institution.
• Shown merit and ability in work performance and results.
