    Deputy Director (Nursing Services)

    Job Purpose

    The Deputy Director (Nursing Services) will be reporting the Director, Clinical Services and will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services in the
    Hospital.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Developing, maintaining and implementing nursing policies and procedures that conform to current standards of nursing practice and operational policies while
      maintaining compliance with National laws and regulations.
    • Communicating and interpreting policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their practices and implementation.
    • Coordinating patient care activities in collaboration with nurse managers, administrative and other technical personnel in the Hospital.
    • Developing nursing standards and playing a leading role in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
    • Ensuring that the planning and delivery of nursing services are addressed and meet the changing needs of clients.
    • Collaborating with consultants, administrative and other medical staff to improve the quality of services to patients and to resolve identified problems.
    • Participating in the development and implementation of strategic plans for nursing services.

    Qualifications and experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in either Nursing or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
      OR
      Higher Diploma in Nursing or Diploma in Advanced Nursing
    • Masters degree in Nursing (MSN) from a recognized university.
    • At least three (3) years experience at the level of Deputy Chief Nurse in a large Hospital.
    • Evidence of at least one (1) month training in general management.
    • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
    • Registration with the Nursing Council and possession of a current retention certificate.
    • Valid practising license from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
    • Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution.
    • Demonstrated a high degree of professional competencies and administered capability as well as broad experience in Nursing and Health care standards and
      programmes.

    The position is on a three (3) year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance.

    Manager, ICT

    Job Purpose

    The Manager, ICT will be responsible to the Director, Corporate Services for the overall development, documentation, administration, implementation and maintenance of ICT
    installations and strategies in the Hospital.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Ensuring implementation and monitoring of the ICT Strategy to enhance the delivery of services, while clearly demonstrating ability to meet deadlines.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Possess Professional certificate in either Microsoft certified Engineering, Microsoft Certified Professional, Database Administration or Systems Development.
    • Possess programming skills.
    • At least 6 years progressive experience in Senior Management level.
    • Certification from relevant recognized professional bodies.

    Skills/Competencies

    Resource Mobilization Manager

    Job purpose

    Reporting to the Deputy Director, Affiliations & Institutional Development, the Resource Mobilization Manager will be expected to take a leading role in the Hospital resource
    mobilization programmes.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Developing and implementing local and international resource mobilization strategies.
    • Identifying a funding base and fundraising partners and writing funding proposals.
    • Building and sustaining a sound relationship with Government agencies, donors and potential partners.
    • Facilitating resource mobilization programmes within the Hospital.
    • Sensitizing the hospital stakeholders on resources mobilization activities.

    • At least two (2) years experience as lead Auditor of quality/environmental management systems.
    • Degree or post graduate qualification in Quality management will be an added advantage.

    Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist

    Job Purpose

    The Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist will be responsible to the Chief Pharmaceutical Technologist for the planning, organizing and coordinating of Pharmaceutical services in the Hospital.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Planning, Supervision, Coordination and Evaluation of pharmaceutical services.

    Job purpose

    Reporting to the Deputy Director, Human Resource, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the planning, coordination, organization and general Human

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Job Purpose

    The Senior Hospital Planner I will be responsible to the Deputy Planning Manager for Planning for the overall development, documentation, administration and implementation
    of strategies in the Hospital.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Pharmacist I

    Job purpose

    The Pharmacist I will be responsible to the Senior Pharmacist for ensuring delivery of pharmaceutical services at unit level.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Preparing medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
    • Consulting with prescribers and other staff to clarify medication orders.
    • Dispensing medication by compounding, packaging and labelling pharmaceuticals including but not limited to extemporaneous preparations and cancer chemotherapy.
    • Controlling medication by monitoring drug therapies and advising interventions.
    • Completing pharmacy operational requirements by organising and directing technologists workflow, verifying their preparation and labelling of pharmaceuticals,

    • Developing Hospital staff pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programmes, training pharmacy staff, students, interns and health care professionals.

    • Protecting patients and support staff by adhering to infection control protocols.
    • Maintaining pharmacological knowledge by attending educational workshops, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

    • Participating in the management of minor orthopaedic and trauma cases in emergencies and accidents
    • Sensitizing and creating awareness on orthopaedic and trauma conditions to the communities
    • Protecting patients and support staff by adhering to Infection Control Protocols.
    • Counselling patients/clients on issues regarding orthopaedic trauma
    • Ensuring compliance with the set standard operating procedures
    • Ensuring compliance with OSHE Act and KNH safety policy

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Certificate in Orthopaedic Plaster and Traction Technology or Othopaedic Plaster Technology from a recognised institution; and
    • At least two (2) years working experience in an NHIF accredited facility.
    • Registration with a professional body.
    • Certificate in computer operations from a recognized institution

    Medical Laboratory Technologist II

    Job Purpose

    The Medical Laboratory Technologist II will be responsible to the Senior Medical Laboratory Technologist for the provision of quality diagnostic medical laboratory services in the
    Hospital.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Recruiting, preparing and bleeding of blood donors for transfusion services.
    • Performing blood grouping.
    • Storing blood products according to their requirements.
    • Screening for blood transfusion infections.
    • Collecting and analyzing laboratory findings and resultant data.
    • Processing the specimen according to specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
    • Supervising the disinfection, washing and sterilization of apparatus.
    • Mentoring and coaching trainees on practical attachment.
    • Receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms and specimens.
    • Preparing clients for collection of specimens for correctness.
    • Receiving, collecting, labelling and registering of specimens.
    • Disaggregating specimens for processing and analysis.
    • Preparing reagents, examining specimens, writing and recording results.
    • Dispatching the results for use in clinical management

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Higher Diploma in Microbiology or Histopathology
    • Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board will be an added
      advantage.
    • Registration Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board.
    • At least two (2) years progressive work experience post specialization in an NHIF accredited health facility.
    • A valid practising license from KMLTTB.
    • Certificate in computer operations from a recognized institution.
