Fellow-Internal Audit at Sanergy

About the role

The team works to ensure that all company operations are conducted in a transparent manner that ensures accountability for all company expenditure. This role will add value and improve our operations by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.  

A typical day for you will include the following

• Performing and controlling the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations
• Determining internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Obtaining, analyzing and evaluating accounting documentation, previous reports, data, flowcharts etc
• Preparing and presenting reports that reflect audit’s results and document process
• Acting as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement
• Identifying loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings
• Maintaining open communication with management and audit committee
• Documenting process and preparation of audit findings memorandum
• Conducting follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
• Continuously engaging for knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards

Skills and qualifications you’ll need  

Educational Background

• Must hold a BCOM (Accountancy) degree with at least a Second Class, Upper Division
• Must have successfully completed CPA, Part 2
• Strong knowledge in Kenya's and International Auditing Standards or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

Required Technical Skills

• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports
• Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations
• Must have a proven working experience as an Internal Auditor for at least two (2) years
• Must be computer literate with a firm grip on MS word and excel.
