    Head, Product Development & Marketing

    Job description

    The Head, Product Development & Marketing will play a leading role in the development and bringing to market of innovative products and services. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with relevant stakeholders in our institutional and enterprise partners to role out various product offerings. This individual also be responsible for the Go to market activities including making sales pitches, and developing collateral. This individual will work closely with a cross-functional team comprised of product, operations, sales, and research/business analytics.

    Team building and problem solving skills are critical, as is a thorough understanding of the Social Media, Mobile apps and Fintech industry in the Nigeria and Africa region. This role is domiciled in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and manage new products and existing products.
    • Develop product messaging that differentiates new product features / services from others in the market.
    • Communicate the value of the product, features, updates, services to the sales team and develop sales tools that facilitate the selling process.
    • Plan and take part in the launch/Go To Market of products and services and involve several different departments in such launches.
    • Oversee the Social Media and marketing activities of the products, roadmap services, feature launches and take part in presentations.
    • Through interviews, surveys, focus groups and sales data, gain insight into customer use of current products/product features, untapped opportunities and buyer personas.
    • Review inventory levels and ensure product availability (within the E-Commerce / M-Commerce services).
    • Establish timescales for development of new products/features/services with product management, engineering and operations departments.
    • Use market research data to determine/review & update service subscription models and costing.
    • Create product content such as case studies, videos, website copy and blog posts.
    • Speak and present about products to both external (Partners like Banks, Insurance companies and other FinTech institutions) and internal audiences.
    • Test all new services, features, updates.
    • Propose and keep within a budget.
    • Research competitor offerings and react when appropriate.

    Knowledge/Skills/Ability:

    • Top notch presentation and communication skills to be able to convey complex products in an easily understandable way.
    • Proficiency within PowerPoint, Excel, and Word with a high level of aesthetic and organization.
    • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
    • Proven skills in product life cycle management and ability to prioritize competing interests while driving towards overall success.
    • Comfortable working in a cross-functional environment to ensure work gets done efficiently.
    • Knowledge and understanding of mobile apps, social media in the fintech ecosystem in Nigeria and the African region.
    • Knowledge and understanding of providing product solutions to large enterprises in Nigeria and the African region.
    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment while also feeling comfortable taking ownership of product Go-To-Market activities and projects.
    • Executive presence and ability to conduct trainings across all levels and serve as functional representation at internal/external events.
    • Proven consultative and client service approach to solving problems and addressing new opportunities.

    Education and Experience:

    • First degree, and an MBA or equivalent from a reputable university.
    • At least 10+ years of product management experience with Product Launch expertise in Nigeria and the African region in a B2B or a B2C set up.

    Job Conditions:

    • Largely on the field with Partner teams
    • Open office
    • Primary office location is Lagos, Nigeria.
    • One month of yearly vacation for expat employees.
