All the countries of the sub-region have been engaged in a process of reflection and redesign to deliver transformational change in our programming and operating model
Towards effectively achieving CARE’s vision to reach 43 Million, people in East, Central, and Southern Africa by 2020. The MDRD role has the added leverage as a change champion to work with countries through this transformational process.
The MDRD will also be accountable for the delivery of sub-regional activities identified within the Horn Presence Review, including identification of opportunities for joint learning and programming. S/he will be a point of leadership and coordination on the quality management of the change process in the sub-region including team building, learning and innovation, GED, partnership, human resources, monitoring & evaluation/accountability, change management and leadership development, and systems development as appropriate. S/he will also ensure the incorporation of humanitarian response capacity is embedded in strategic planning, systems, and program implementation.
This role will suit someone comfortable with fairly frequent travel to both country offices, member partners, and other potential gatherings, with 30% to 40% of the time being spent on travel. This position is also typically based in the region for effective management but this can be negotiated with exception. The Horn countries work in English primarily and therefore this is the primary working language.
We are looking for an exceptional individual for this role, which is a Senior Leadership role in ECSA. Your experience in development and humanitarian assistance, coupled with good strategic development experience, a passion for creativity and solution-finding, solid background on program quality, accountability and impact, working in partnership, change management, staff development, coordination, and teamwork, is highly admired.
